Devil's Nest, Thursday night

Eric was back behind the bar mostly to hide the technicolor schnapps from Lucifer (ugh. Rainbow shots were so disgusting) and deliver a lecture to Tiny about the importance of carding people who looked too young, seemed new, or personally annoyed Eric.

The last category was a long list.

Tiny nodded in all the right spots, put the liquor back where it had been originally, and vowed to not get involved in whatever this was with his two bosses.

Was it bad that when Jaye got out it was to the bars? Should she get concerned?

Eh, maybe later.

"Can I just get a beer?"

"Can I see ID?" Eric asked.

"Not a question I've ever heard before here," Jaye said, but she was so used to going out normally that she had her purse on her to figure out and present her drivers license. "

"You've been to Caritas, then," Eric said with a little smile. "Welcome to the Devil's Nest. We have better beer. Tiny will get you one."

Eric got no one anything.

"Well, and I was here earlier this week," Jaye pointed out, putting her license away.

"Good you were legal, or this would've gotten very awkward," Eric said. "I'm Eric."

He just had to be an Eric in a bar.

"Jaye. I think I might've seen you around before."

She'd been back and forth, and he sort of stood out.

He was enormously tall and broody!

"Nice to meet you with names attached, then, Jaye," Eric said. "Tiny, get Jaye a beer. Not the gross ones."

"Why do you have gross ones?"

Let's be real, Jaye usually drank the gross ones.

"To give people I don't like," Eric said, smiling toothily.

"Give it ten minutes," she assured him. "You may switch up my beers."

"I'll keep charging you for the good ones, though," Eric teased.

"You're all right," Jaye decided. "Even if that would come out of your tip."

"Oh, you tip?" Eric said. "How much?"

"Wait, who isn't tipping? Don't they know bartenders are people you want on your side?"

This felt important. They gave you alcohol.

"I actually have no idea," Eric admitted. "I own the place. Tiny does the bartending."

"Aha. So you'd overcharge me but let Tiny take the monetary hit?" Jaye asked.

"Well, I wouldn't generally let you know in advance that you were getting overcharged," Eric said, "so Tiny would've been fine."

"Except now I know about the possibility," she pointed out.

"Well, this time," Eric agreed. "Maybe you'll forget next time."

"You underestimate my pettiness," Jaye said.

Eric smirked. "I can work with pettiness."

"Then we might not have a problem," she said, and added, "Maybe."

"It's the maybe that makes me like you," Eric said, grinning.

"Well, I like to keep my options open just in case," Jaye said. "You know how it goes."
