Mystery Sign Theater 3000, Saturday

Around last Halloween, as Bucky had been passing by the movie theater in town, a man had stormed out, yelled something about how he was "fed up with those goddamned lurky clows" - and shoved a set of keys at Bucky, telling him he could take over for all the guy cared, because he was out of this godforsaken town.

Bucky had found the keys in his apartment after his return last week, but hadn't really paid them any mind beyond that. But, today, Bucky had been getting himself a coffee after the morning's fire alarm show - another try at playing Regular Guy - and a woman had come up to him like she knew him. "Oh, there you are," she'd said. "I was hoping you'd come by the theater soon, I wanted to update you on some of the bookkeeping --"

And then she'd said something about how they'd made a decent amount of bells (what?) the other week, and how maybe they should consider showing some more early 2000s schlock since it seemed to do well - maybe starting with Hot Tub Hotel?

None of that had made much sense to Bucky, of course. But it had made him curious enough that he'd picked up the keys from the apartment, and had made it down to the movie theater.

Where today's marquee proudly read:

Cleopatra

Almost felt like the place had been waiting for him.

He wasn't even surprised.
