Stark Industries- Sunday
Since she'd been up since the fire drill in the morning, Rey had gone to bed early last night. Which meant she was also up too early this morning, because now her own sleep cycle was apparently betraying her.
Because that was fair.
She was getting work done, just a little slower than normal, while the gremlin seemed to be outpacing her.
[IC = OOC. Post is open!]

And then there was the whole thing where Rey was probably Duke's best friend, and maybe that had factored into it, wanting to give them the space to do their own thing. (Give him space away from her.) But now Duke hadn't even been reading her texts since his own weird ones yesterday, and, yeah. That seemed like something Rey should know about.
It was honestly mostly by luck that Octavia even found Rey today, but find her she did, stomping into the store, looking tense - and considerably older than when Rey had last seen her a handful of months ago, yes.

So this was a bit of a surprise, and one Rey wasn't quite sure how to handle, given that tenseness.
"Hey. Been a while."

"I'm worried about Duke," she said. Greetings were for people who weren't freaking out a little bit. (On the inside. The outside just looked tense.)

"Why?"

"He told you he was going to Haven again, right?" Octavia checked, but didn't really wait for an answer. "Apparently he has to stay for a few more days than he was going to, because his friend died. Only now, none of my texts have been going through since yesterday afternoon."

Who Octavia had met all of a week ago. She had no idea whether Rey would've known about the McShaws or not.
"I don't know how, because when I tried to ask what happened, the messages stopped going through."

She had a feeling she knew the worry here.

"Well, I don't know how those work," Octavia rasped with a little scowl, "but I know he promised to stay in touch."
She wished she could've believed it was just multiversal phone lines on the temporary fritz, but the aforementioned trauma wouldn't let her.

"Not yet."
Probably for the best, actually.
no subject
"Okay. So... why did you come here?"
no subject
Also, she'd seemed less likely to outright call her paranoid to her face than Lucifer would have been.
no subject
She never did. The weirdness of this particular situation just added a new level to it.

She hadn't come back only to lose him again.

"'Looks like I'll be here a couple more days'," she read out loud. "That's all he said. So, I don't know. If he's not back by Tuesday...?"
no subject
And then... do nothing, because there was nothing to do but wait.

You know, as if she'd actually be able to hold off that long.
"Text me if you hear from him."
no subject
"Same if you do," she said.
