The Jackdaw, Port of Fandom, Early Wednesday Morning
It was the sense of something not-quite-right that woke Edward up from his drunken stupor early. For whatever reason, the sound of Caroline's voice, yelling, her face full of pained rage, it rang in his ears well past the groggy first moments of the day.
He sat up.
In this in-between state, his mind flitted into the recesses of the strange second vision he possessed.
The room should have been easy, calm, with no hint of malevolence. It wasn't. In fact, just the sight of the black mass of something-- hooves? A horse's face? Or a roiling mass of liquid given form?-- that lit up brighter than the sun under his augmented gaze sent him stumbling to his feet.
He burst through the door onto the deck. "Boys!" he yelled. "To the sails! Bring in the gangplank and get those ropes loose! We're bloody leaving!"
He was not sticking around for whatever this was. If that meant taking an 18th century brig along the 21st century East Coast for a week, he'd do it.
Adéwalé was going to I-told-you-so him, wasn't he?
