Fandom Trooper Station, Wednesday

It was apparently International Dog Day and that was as good of a distraction from last week than any. Even if it meant strange phone calls about whether or not there would be a parade or if dogs were being given the right to vote next.

Which was so far from his purview that Danny,was going to let the troopers handle those calls. He also bribed them with more baked goods to prevent an uprising, so it was all working out in the end.

Steve came in slurping on some kind of stupidly healthy green smoothie. "Hey, Danny."

"Wow, you're not wet or covered in a disgusting film." He was so proud of you, Steve.

"I'm a little disappointed, to be honest," Steve said. "That was fun."

[hatesparadise]

"Sorry, not everything can be BUD/S, babe."

Danny didn't sound sorry at all.

Judging by the muttering from the Troopers, they weren't sorry, either.

"Yeah," Steve said. "Guess I'll have to add an evening run into my day instead."

"God forbid," he replied dryly. "What the heck are you even drinking there?"

"Kale, mango, and pineapple green smoothie," Steve said, "with wheatgrass and protein powder. Want some?"

"I'd sooner stick my tongue in the blender, but thanks for the offer."

"You're missing out," Steve said, shaking his head oh-so-sadly.

[hatesparadise]

"You honestly think that tastes good?"

[grenadesandohana]

"What's not to like about mango and pineapple, Danno?" Steve asked.

[hatesparadise]

"Its more the wheatgrass that's throwing me," he admitted.

"It's not that much wheatgrass, really," Steve said.

Danny hummed his disapproval, picking up the other half of his donut to bite into. Which had been part of the bribing of the troopers.

Steve gave the donut a little judgy look.

"It's healthier than that," he added.

[hatesparadise]

"Oh, undoubtedly." Didn't stop Danny from enjoying his donut. Nor licking his fingers clean like an absolute shit.

"And you call me an animal," Steve said dryly.

[hatesparadise]

"You are an animal, Steve." And they claimed to have no idea what they did could be considered flirting.

This was completely normal workplace conversation!

"But I'm an animal with a healthy heart," Steve countered.

[hatesparadise]

"My heart is plenty healthy!" Danny countered, going for donut number two just to taunt him. "My knee is less so."

"That's not going to get you out of Saturday's hike," Steve decided.

[hatesparadise]

"Saturday's what now?" Surprise hikes were just so very Steve.

[grenadesandohana]

"Hike," Steve said like he had totally talked about this in advance, which he had not. "There's a ton of national parks around here."

[hatesparadise]

"And you want me to drop you off at one?" Oh, Danny thought he could escape Steve's need to show off nature.

Steve gave him a smirk. "And then come with me, of course."

He might not even fall off a cliff this time!
