Rey's warehouse- Friday afternoon

Rey's day started easy enough, running through the course the opposite way than usual while being followed by drones, which was a totally normal thing to do. As it turned out, it was a very good thing that her reflexes/danger sense were good, and that she'd gotten pretty good at the jumps.

Because as soon as she finished the course and jumped down, she told the woodchucks, "We had a deal!"

Before heading to Summer's, Barry decided to check in with Rey and see how the drones were working out only to catch the very end of her obstacle course and her scolding of the woodchucks.

"What kind of deal did you have?" he asked trying not to look amused.

"They get food if they only throw things at me when I ask," Rey said, glaring at them.

The woodchucks cared not.

"Well if their still throwing things at you maybe you need better quality of food," Barry suggested. "Unless they are being dicks."

He scowled at the woodchucks.

"Seriously. Listen to Wil Wheaton. Don't be dicks."

"Won't work. It's why I resorted to bribery," Rey said. "Anyway, hi."

"Hi," Barry replied, still giving an evil eye at the woodchucks. "I just wanted to check in and see how the drones were doing. They doing what they need to do? Any adjustments needed?"

"Not so far. They work fine, I've used them a few times now, everything seems good," she said.

[badassprodigy]

"Good. Do I need to create something to keep these fuckers in line?" he asked jabbing a thumb at the woodchucks. "Because if the carrot doesn't work the stick might."

"Definitely not," Rey said, shaking her head. "We're just going to have to renegotiate."

It was probably wrong to mind trick them. Probably.

It was that kind of thinking that usually made Barry involve an ethics committee.

"You know you don't have to work out in a warehouse right?" Barry asked. "I heard they actually have one of those holo-rooms at MHA. Unless the rusted metal and thrown wooden objects works better for you?"

"I like the warehouse," Rey admitted. "I took it over from one of my teachers. His equipment's still here. Everything else Master Skywalker and I put together ourselves."

Barry's eyes took in the warehouse again and nodded slowly. "Who was the teacher?" he asked, curiously.

"Kanan Jarrus," she said, and added, "He's friends with Summer. He's dealing with his own Rebellion back home."

Barry snapped to attention at the mention of the name. "Yeah. She's mentioned him-"

A dozen times.

"-once or twice. That and Hera. She-"

Barry frowned, struggling to find the right words.

"Misses them? Or at least that's what I gather. They seem to have had a major impact on her."

"You could say that," Rey said with a tiny smile. "It's one of those situations where you understand why things are the way they are, but it doesn't make it easier. And Summer was closer to the situation."

By which she meant that she'd picked up her whole life and moved there to help.

"The situation being a pissed off galactic empire," Barry said nodding slowly but still not understanding it all. "Well that explains why she misses them so much. She mentioned bounty hunters the other night. Should I worry about that?" he asked. "I mean... not that Summer can't handle herself. Clearly she can do that."

"...Not that I'm aware but I wouldn't bet against it happening," Rey said, considering that. "I'm sure it's fine."

"Eh. Probably," Barry said with a shrug. "Anyone coming to this island to hunt someone down would have to be either stupid or batshit insane anyway."

Anakin arrived right on time, glanced up and glared at the woodchucks. "The accords have failed?" he guessed.

"I'm sure it happens and it lasts for maybe half a day," Rey agreed.

"We're going to hope this was a one time thing," she sighed. "At least I didn't die when they did it."

Barry chuckled. "Yeah. That sounds about right. Anyway, let me know if anything needs fixing. Including the woodchucks."

"Death by woodchucks would be a terrible way to go," Anakin agreed.

"Luckily I'm getting better," Rey said. "I think."

Again, didn't die!

"You think?" Aankin repeated, arching an eyebrow.

[thatwaslucky]

"I'm getting better," she corrected.
