Jesse had done enough reading to know Emily wasn't likely to stay. They'd made plans accordingly, and spent a night and a day pouring over as much of Barry's research as they'd had to work with.
It had been a little... weird, seeing Emily hang out in one of her own big t-shirts (the one that read 'I express my individuality through mass-produced t-shirts') with a cup of coffee in the morning. Emily wore uniforms, that was her thing. Or... maybe she'd just seen Emily in uniform because everyone had been trapped in the Oldest House, and...
I'm thinking too much.
She showed up to town hall in the morning, settling in her office with the notes the two of them had made the previous night. At least Dylan was still safe. 'No change', Emily had told her, 'He's still in a coma, but he's stable', and that was...
Well, it was better than the alternative.
She sighed and reached for her coffee.
