Steve was at the station, pushing around paperwork about Diego's guest for the weekend and ignoring how Ralph and Calvin were trying to decide if Klaus had been really serious in any of the flirting he'd engaged in while locked up.

Steve was overwhelmingly grateful that his sister Mary hadn't managed to spend any of her weekend in jail, too--she had that kind of complete lack of impulse control luck--and so that gratitude extended to doing the paperwork so Diego didn't have to.

Of course, Steve was terrible at doing paperwork, so Danny was going to have to redo it tomorrow, but it was thought that counted, right?

The Troopers were just grateful Steve hadn't made them cliff dive or join a triathlon today, so they left him to it.

[OOC: Of course I didn't write this yesterday and forget to post. That would be ridiculous.]

"...do I wanna know?" Danny asked once he passed by that conversation between Ralph and Calvin.

"Probably not," Steve admitted.

[hatesparadise]

"Right," Danny agreed, taking a seat on the chair meant for people who might be giving a report to Steve rather than his own desk. "Nice seeing Mary and Joan."

Grace went without saying.

Steve smiled. "Joanie hasn't gotten much bigger, thank God. I'd hate to miss a bunch of that. And Mary didn't get into any trouble!"

Like accidentally being a mule. Again.

"I got some pictures of you and the kids at that fair thing on Saturday if you want 'em." Of course he did.

Also, this was perfectly normal stuff. Ralph, stop taking notes for your romance novel!

"You did?" Steve said, grinning. "Grace has a good knife grip."

He was very, very proud for teaching her that.

"Not a phrase I want to be said about my kid, thanks," Danny said, sending the Hallmark looking pictures over to Steve's phone.

Steve clearly had no idea why not being able to kill people with a pumpkin carver wouldn't be a highly sought after skill, so he looked at the photos instead, and set one as his phone background.

"It was a great weekend. She didn't leave with a porg, right?"

"No, she didn't," he replied dryly. "She cares too much about the nene."

Steve smiled proudly at that. "Very Hawaiian."

"You've infected her, yes."

[grenadesandohana]

Steve didn't look less proud about that. "We start with the shave ice, then move to the environmentalism."

"And follow that up with the shaka sign?" Danny suggested with a half amused little smile.

Diego stopped by work after spending some time at the gym. Luckily for everyone he showered before showing up.

"Hey man."

Eh, Steve normally showed up covered in mud on Wednesdays, so hygiene was (sorry, Liam!) overrated.

"Hey! Interesting weekend?"

"It was an annoying weekend," he corrected. He looked over a Ralph and Calvin. "Are these guys gossiping?"

"Yup," Steve said. "I feel like they don't have enough to keep them busy. Maybe they should run laps?"

Two completely identical flat looks got shot at him for that suggestion.

"Wouldn't be a bad idea," Diego said. "Clearly think they can slack off because they had to do their job one time over the weekend."

And let's be real, arresting Klaus was not a real challenge.

Steve held up the paperwork proudly. He was booking someone! Kind of!

"It's a very exciting time for them."

[knife_bender]

"If there's one thing Klaus is good for, it's excitement." Another thing he was good for was contacting the dead, but that didn't come up very often.

"I'm glad he didn't meet my sister," Steve admitted, "because Mary's the same way."

[knife_bender]

"Honestly there are worse siblings of mine to meet." Specifically Luther and Vanya.

[grenadesandohana]

"She's the only one I've got," Steve said. "How many do you have?"

[knife_bender]

"Six," he said. "Four brothers, two sisters."

[grenadesandohana]

"That sounds--" loud, so loud, "--like a lot," Steve said. "Was it good to see him?"

Aside from the arrest thing?
