The Park, Sunday Morning
Cara would've been quite content to hole up in her apartment until this business was done with, it had been embarrassing enough the first time around and that was when she hadn't been on the island with oversharing squirrels. But today Vieno had been quite insistent on going outside to enjoy the fresh air.
But that didn't mean she was happy about this. "We could be in the preserve, hunting," she suggested.
"We could," Vieno agreed, cheerfully. "But I'd rather do this."
So now there was a giant wolf chasing after a ball from one side of the park to the other like an overexcited puppy.

Jesse winced. "Claws," she said.
"Oh, right, I'm sorry!"
... Don't mind the redhead and the hawk watching you awkwardly from the sidelines, Cara.

Cara really needed to interact with more people.

"Uhhhh," Saiph said. "Can you... can you throw it?"
Jesse made an amused noise and leaned down to get the ball, repressing the fleeting urge to give a little telekinetic swing just to keep things interesting. "All right," she said, and tossed it in the air.
It made a neat arc-- and Saiph was gone before it left her hand, shooting forward as she tried to get to it before it landed.
Sadly, she was fast, but not that fast.

See, Cara, it was great to make friends.

"Sorry," Jesse called, smiling a little. "I'm sure you'll do better next time!"
She looked from the wolf to the woman it seemed to belong to and tried a smile. "Hey."
Smooth, Jesse.

"Hey, Cara!" Magnus said from behind the mountain.
no subject
"I can see that," Cara replied dryly, and nodded in Magnus's direction. "Magnus. Bear."
no subject
"Her name's Bernie," he explained, catching up with a little jog. "Aren't they fun?"
no subject
"This is the second time I've been like this," he exlpained. "She's grumpy because she misses all her non-Magnus friends."
"Is yours this oversharing?"
no subject
Why did no one want to know his tragic backstory?!
Bernie flopped again, carefully nudging Vieno with one massive paw.

"We could go to the pond," the platypus said from Stark's arms. "I do like swimming. Or the beach later?"
Stark was still a bit thrown at the idea that part of his soul might be external and corporeal and that it was shaped like an Earth animal that honestly looked like it belonged on another planet entirely. Still, he was inclined to allow her whatever she asked. "If you like," he agreed. "You can swim where you please."
no subject
"Hey, Stark," he greeted. "Who's your friend?"
no subject
"She's a platypus," Stark explained. "They're Australian." Earth was weird.
no subject
"This," he held up his right arm, where Kestrel was still curled around it. "Is Kestrel. She's a skrill."
"Not Australian," Kestrel felt compelled to add.

"Hello," she said cheerfully. Stark, for his part, eyed what was clearly a predator a bit warily.

"Hello," he said, just as cheerfully. "I'd ask if you were a Fandom animal, but Cara's never seen anything like you either."

"No, you need to practice," Nestor replied, in the same slightly British-accented Illyana used, though his voice was rich with amusement. "So here we stay."
"I hate you."
"No you don't."
no subject
"You love me anyway."
no subject
"Because I don't want detention for the rest of the year if you end up eating a radio squirrel, Nestor!"
no subject
"Could you not in front of a student?"
"Since when do you actually care about being appropriate?"

A memory, not his own, of a young redheaded girl, picking up a ball and throwing it, the dog by her side tearing off after it with an excited yip.
"Oh." Though he was pretty sure this was a wolf and not a dog, but if it was what he wanted... he picked up the ball and threw it as hard as he could.
