Rey actually found a lot of these weekends kind of great, and this one was no exception. Tinis had decided he wanted to help her at work today, and she hadn't quite been sure how he'd manage it, considering he was tiny and his forelegs were very short. But he was actually really good at compensating, and it was fascinating to watch.

Meanwhile the gremlin was still working on something behind its screen, and that wasn't worrying at all.

A corgi came racing into the lab followed slightly more sedately by a golden retriever.

Steve pulled up the rear a second later. "Hello, Rey," he said.

"Hi," she said, though it was unclear whether she was talking to him or the dogs. "You have a new friend."

She was talking to Steve then, yes.

"That's Charlie," Steve said with a smile. "He's been keeping Patriot very busy this weekend."

Patriot had never been so happy or tired in his little life.

"That sounds like the best weekend," Rey admitted, as Tinis hopped like a tiny kangaroo to the end of the table to look.

Patriot was digging out his little chewy robot that he'd carefully stashed in a corner to show to Charlie.

"Oh, that's a nice one," Charlie said in a thick Brooklyn accent.

Steve chuckled. "I think Patriot has found all of his toys this weekend. All of them. Netta's not nearly as interested in pretending to care about them."

"And Netta is...?" Rey asked.

"Tony's daemon," Steve said. "A cat. Far too cool for this."

"Okay, that makes sense," Rey said. "How's it been with... three?"

Here she was, with one who just liked to play in her hair.

Steve laughed. "We haven't been able to sit on our own sofa since Friday," he said, "and there has been a lot of exercise."

"This honestly sounds adorable," Rey told him.

"It's been pretty swell," Steve agreed. "What's your friend's name?"

"Tinis," he said, from where he was perched, quietly watching the dogs. "I take up much less space."

"I bet you make your presence felt just fine," Steve said, smiling.

"I do okay," Tinis said. "I'm helping today."

"Are you an engineer, too?" Steve asked.

In response, Tinis wiggled his absolutely tiny hands at him to answer.

"Neither of us is," Rey said with a smile.

Steve smiled back. "Then how are you helping, pal?" he asked.

Tinis stuck one very long leg out.

"That's a very nice leg," Steve said.

[thatwaslucky]

"He's been pretty good at getting into small places and working with his feet," Rey said, smiling. She loved it.

"That sounds very handy," Steve said, then grinned.
