Community Center Class: Modern Earth Entertainment - Wednesday, 11/18.

Amaya was trying to branch out a little with her movie selections for the class to appeal to the audience and class-goers in general, and, having discussed it a little with Lucille last week, figured this week should definitely be one of those 'darker side of humanity' ones the other woman seemed to express being keen on. Of course, Amaya wasn't quite sure what would fit the bill there, but she did have Google, so that made it easy enough to narrow in on one movie that seemed to show up toward the top of most lists regarding that theme.

So this should be a nice, uplifting venture!

"This week's movie," she offered, once everyone seemed to have gotten their mingling out of their systems and settled in with their snacks and tea and whatnot, "promises to take us on a darker journey than we may be a little more used to. Assuming the equipment doesn't just decide to take us on a hard turn and give us something entirely different instead..."

And guess what!

It totally did!

Since the movies were a bit hit and miss, with more misses than hits, mingling was indeed the main reason Lucille was here. That wasn't a bad thing though.

She poured herself a cup of tea, looking around to see who else was there.

Ponyland comes under attack from the Smooze, a massive purple ooze created by an evil witch who plans to destroy the ponies' annual spring festival.

Amaya's hand seemingly permanently glued to her face in some way throughout almost the entirety of the film should be a pretty good indication that, yes. Yes, Lucille, this was definitely a mistake...

I honestly only decided to do this bait-and-switch halfway through writing this post. And I'm so glad I did, and I will 100% admit that this was one of my absolute FAVORITES as a kid, you have no idea, even if I give the 1984 one higher accolades for the one scene where I was completely convinced that Applejack got turned into a pony cannibal...

I feel this really explains a lot about me as a person.
