Community Center Class: Modern Earth Entertainment - Wednesday, 11/25.

"You'd think," Amaya started, once everyone who was coming that day managed to get themselves their snacks and their mingling on and got settled in for the actual apparent reason for this class, "with how many movies there are about the next of this world's incredibly aggressive line-up of holidays, this current one apparently going on tomorrow," which involved no mushiness and eating large pieces of meat, so Amaya was actually a big fan, "seems a little bereft in the movie department. But there is at least one that seemed to pop up as a good classic Thanksgiving movie, because it takes place during Thanksgiving, I suppose, and there's a general sense of thankfulness and family and all that wrapped up into it at the end? Anyway, we're watching it tonight, so I hope you enjoy it."

Although, she probably would have been fine, without the theme, considering the places where the usual batch of people who came into this were from, but it was supposed to be a class about Modern Earth culture, after all, and not just a convenient excuse to socialize and watch movies.

And, yes, while Tisarwat certainly would approve of the snacks at these classes starting to lean away from food eaten with your hands, she was...not really sure mashed potatoes were the right direction to go in that regard.

But she did, as always, admire Amaya's attempts to at least try, unaware that Amaya had absolutely nothing to do with it at all.

"Have you ever had mashed potatoes?", Lucille asked.

"I have," said Tisarwat, with a slightly rueful smile sent Lucille's way. After all, boxed instant potatoes had become a pantry staple that not even she could mess up. "Though I wouldn't ever really consider them a good snack for entertainments..."

It was fine, though. Amaya's baffling eccentricities were just part of her charm...

"Neither would I," Lucille. "But it could be worse."

She smiled. "I lost track of time yesterday or I would have stopped by the shop."

"Something particularly interesting catch your attention instead?" Tisarwat asked, pleased even at the idea that Lucille would have stopped by, even if she hadn't.

"I was reading," Lucille replied, smiling. "I will lend you the book later. What I wanted to talk to you about was something else though. I have been thinking it might be nice to have a music player of some kind in the flower shop."

"You could keep up the trend and just get a piano," Tisarwat suggested, mostly a joke, although she certainly wouldn't turn down a sale like that, either. "But we have plenty of option; I'll be happy to help you explore what we have to find what might suit you best.

"I have heard," she added, thoughtful and amused, "that plants might respond well to sounds...like talking to them or playing music..."

"I considered a piano, but it might take up too much space," Lucille said. "And there is a lot of recorded music that I would not be able to play."

"Really? Talk to them?"

"Really," Tisarwat confirmed with a small laugh. "At least, that's what I've heard. I don't know much about plants myself, but I heard it from a horticulturalist I knew." Her smile went a little fond, as it always would with this particular topic, and it not escaping her notice that she certainly did seem drawn to those who worked with plants, didn't she? "I'm not sure if I believe it, but she did wonderful work and was very passionate about it, so there must have been some truth to it."

While Lucille were aware of all three types of transport, train was the only one she had actually tried. Other than that, she didn't have fond memories of family dinners, although they had luckily been few.
