Fandom Trooper Station, Thursday

Danny hadn't noticed anything weird going on today. Well, nothing in particular. Possibly because he didn't spend any time one-on-one with anyone throughout the morning. Possibly because the troopers had kept a distance when he did show up at the station. Even waiting until he wasn't nearby to grab their bribe donuts.

Because the amount of PT they'd be forced into if anything happened...

Not that Danny was aware of any of that. He was, for a change, able to get a decent amount of Steve's paperwork done without being interrupted.

It would be a healthy and in no way over-compensating amount of PT!

Steve had also not noticed anything amiss because his morning had been spent doing a super-fun swim and run combination and added some rock climbing just because it had been there and his need to do something vaguely dangerous had been rising.

There hadn't been an explosion or a car chase in far too long. Almost a month!

So he came into the office with slightly damp hair despite it being December (he'd learn), but in about four layers of clothing. "Morning, Danny."

Why did you want to hurt him with car explosions? Why?

"Morning," he replied, glancing up to give him an amused look. "Should I get you a space heater for the holiday?"

"I'm good!" Steve insisted from inside the depths of his puffy coat. "But do they make slightly cooler looking coats?"

They do not.

"Nah, I think you've got the coolest one." Danny, that was cruel.

[grenadesandohana]

"I have my Navy-issued pea coat but I can only wear that while in uniform and it's back in O'ahu," Steve lamented. "That one's better."

"Maybe if you stopped swimming in this weather, you'd stay warm," Danny pointed out.

"I have a wet suit now!" Steve said.

Meanwhile a piece of some kind of foliage skittered in through the door and heading for Calvin and Ralph.

"Oh, and does that actually help or is it just a way to make sure you run around with wet hair?" Danny asked, tossing the towel he now kept at his desk over to Steve.

Like a mother hen.

"This is from the shower," Steve told him airily.

[hatesparadise]

"Well my mistake, I'll take the towel back," he replied dryly, oblivious to the weird fluttering going on by the troopers. Because there was bickering to be done here!

"But I like the towel," Steve protested.

[hatesparadise]

"Then you should have used it before coming into work!"

[grenadesandohana]

"The towel was here," Steve said.

Diego hadn't noticed anything weird either. You'd think he'd be more on his guard since Annie had told him about the mistletoe thing like two days ago but, no, half of Team Himbo was just sitting at his desk, living his life.

"Are you going to the party tomorrow?"

Look, it was possible that he was just syncing up with Luther and that's why his brain wasn't working properly.

"Yeah, yeah. It's that or listen to people stomp overhead, isn't it?"

"That's true," he said. "Stomping, throwing glitter, doing keg stands..."

He didn't think Rey's apartment would survive.

"Keg stands?" Really, Diego? Really?

[knife_bender]

"Uh, yeah," Diego said with a firm 'duh' tone. "Annie's gonna do one."

[hatesparadise]

"Well, she's--" You know, young. "--are you gonna try to get Steve to do one?"

[knife_bender]

"Why can't you get him to do one?" He was your boyfriend, Danny, not his.

[hatesparadise]

"Not as much fun," Danny replied. "Just tell him you can do it better, that's all you gotta do."

Steve's competitive nature did the rest.

[knife_bender]

"I mean, I can do it better." Steve wasn't the only one with a competitive nature.

[hatesparadise]

"Eh, maybe." Danny, don't play him that way.

[knife_bender]

"I'm like twenty years younger than the both of you." That was only a slight exaggeration.

"I'm just saying, I won't know until I see it," Danny replied. "Considering the Navy SEAL thing and all."
