Atlas Gym, Monday (12/14)

Beau hadn't thought much about the snow on the ground when she'd taken Nugget out with her on her pre-work run; maybe there had been something about his enthusiastic barking that had kept any would-be sugary predators at bay, but Beau 's passive perception of 13 clearly didn't beat their stealth checks didn't see anything amiss at the time. It wasn't until she'd taken Nugget back to the apartment, gotten ready for work, and headed back out that she caught a flash of something red and white and probably annoyingly festive in the snow. And sure, this December things seemed to be a little weirder than the previous two, but eh, it was just candy canes. Right?

Right. Until two of them ambushed her five feet from the front door of the gym and managed to successfully drag her into a snowbank just in time to muffle a very colorful expletive.

It was a good thing that Yasha just happened to be on her way past when it happened. Maybe hacking candy canes into pieces with a six-foot greatsword was a little bit of overkill on her part, but it at least scared off any more sharkicanes in the area for a few minutes. Sighing, she reached down and hauled Beau up out of the snow with a look on her face that suggested this wasn't the first time Beau had needed to be rescued from a situation of the sort.

"I totally had it under control," Beau said, brushing snow out of her eyes. "But thanks."

Yasha had turned around and was already scanning the area for any more attack candy canes, but there seemed to be none in sight, which might have had something to do with how she was standing there being all big and menacing with her sword still out. "Why do things keep trying to drown you?" she asked over her shoulder, and then took off down the street, presumably to hunt down more candy canes.

"Not my fault I --" Beau began, but Yasha was already about halfway down the block. (Ugh, there she went with the leaving again.) "I'm not, like, trying to make it happen!"

Oh well. She put up a quick sign in the window warning people to watch out for candy canes in the snow, got everything set to open, and then spent about half of the rest of her day out front fighting off any evil candy that came too near the gym doors just because it was fun. Her staff was going to be so gross and sticky with melted candy cane bits later, but... might be worth it.

[OOC: Gym/post open. I'm delighted by an opportunity to continue with Beau's canon track record of getting chomped on, drowned, dragged underground, etc. It's funny now, it's not so funny while it's actually happening. Look, everyone has to have hobbies.]

Seivarden had looked outside the window before going out, seen something odd move and decided to bring her gun. A proper Radchaai one.

When she finally reached the gym she had blown a few of the sharkicanes to little pieces.

She needed to go to the gym. She really needed to go to the gym, even more so after being attacked by candy.

Oh, that was the kid with an attitude and a stick, wasn't it?

"I'm going to the gym," Seivarden said firmly.

Seivarden smiled, raising an eyebrow as she walked past her.

"I won't," she said with a laugh, continuing towards the changing rooms.

"Don't worry," Seivarden called back. "I've been to a gym before."

Which was probably obvious, considering she had kept a lot fitter in the last half a year or so than she ever had in Fandom.

Yes, kid with attitude.

"I've been to this gym before," Seivarden said. "Just not in a while."

She added: "Those candy canes make goos target practice."
