Town Hall, Thursday
A large dome of glass had slid over the island overnight. Jesse had been by to poke at it, but there was just... no getting through it.
Now she was back.
"Yeah," Jesse said, "We have a problem."
She was currently behind her desk, trying to pry a strand of lights from her leg. She'd successfully murdered it - it wasn't moving anymore - but it was definitely stuck.
She rubbed her forehead. "Well, the door's still open," she said to her assistant, "At least I don't think we're going to be alone in figuring this out..."
Her assistant beamed and pushed the tiny cactus towards Jesse.

Arrive/Mingle
Re: Arrive/Mingle
This time it was less because of the island and more because she'd discovered that her... thing... about fire didn't extend to mouthy mistletoe. Bwahaha.
She was less than enthused about the snow globe thing though.
"Last time someone broke the snow globe it, like, got super ugly???????" Nina announced. "So, like, let's not do that?????????"
Re: Arrive/Mingle
"Perhaps," he muttered as he walked in, "I ought to have stayed indoors." Or he perhaps should find an escort who could cover his right side so he didn't end up dead in a snowdrift.
Re: Arrive/Mingle
Re: Arrive/Mingle
"But thank you. For checking."

Re: Arrive/Mingle
"I'll walk you back," Nina decided, her voice daring him to say no. "Dad would, like, never forgive me if I didn't!!!!!!!!!"
He would, but she was using him as an excuse.
"Besides, like, I'm sure he won't mind feeding me supper!!!!!!"
Re: Arrive/Mingle
"I'm sure I would be fine." He was not at all sure of that. "But thank you."
Re: Arrive/Mingle
Re: Arrive/Mingle
"Your magic works against all the latest developments?"
Re: Arrive/Mingle
That was because Prompto was less-danger-prone sibling.
Re: Arrive/Mingle
Re: Arrive/Mingle
Nina still thought that was weird since, like, he'd gotten mad at her when she hadn't told him the news before...

"So now we have a dome."
Pick Through Stuff/Research
Or maybe someone has a better idea.
Re: Pick Through Stuff/Research
So... yeah, more humming was ensuing.
Re: Pick Through Stuff/Research
"Hey nerds!" he called out from what appeared to be in the middle of Barry's warehouse in the warehouse district. "I think I found something. There's some signal coming from the troposphere that's fucking up the weather patterns on the island. I've tried to get a couple of my drones up there to see what the fuck it is but no luck so far."

Which is Barry's usual excuse when he can't figure anything out.
Re: Pick Through Stuff/Research
Though, as she was inserting herself into this conversation
threadwith a glance at Jesse, Nina added, "Do you mean you're blocked from getting past a certain height or do you mean you can't see anything out of the ordinary???????"Re: Pick Through Stuff/Research
Re: Pick Through Stuff/Research
Okay. Barry was so wincing at this girl because WOW that was a lot of punctuation.
“Yeah, a bit of both actually,” he replied. “I’ve lost five drones trying to get up there. They keep getting hit by those shitty icicles. Normally my sensors can cut through this bullshit but so far I got a big fucking pile of nothing.”
Re: Pick Through Stuff/Research
"Huh, okay," Nina said thoughtfully. "That could mean that the icicles are meant as a defensive measure......."
She had a notebook out now and was scribbling something in her own conglomeration of ancient languages and rune diagrams.
"I'll have to see if I can scry what's up there," Nina decided. "It probably won't work but, like, not working sometimes gives more information than working!!!!!!!!!!!"
Re: Pick Through Stuff/Research
Seemed kind of a stretch, but, around here, that's usually exactly what you needed.
So she showed up later in the day, plopping a few large photographs of the school that she'd just process on a table in a central location around all the nerds who stuck it out in here all day.
"So I noticed something," she explained. "Something didn't look right about this," she pointed at the first shadow, "on the school, especially with what's going on overhead. Sure enough." She pointed at the next photo, the other side of the castle this time, but with the same weird shadow over it. "About two hours difference. And then..."
The last photo showed no sign of the shadow anymore.
"Obviously, I might have missed something, because I couldn't exactly watch it the whole time with everything going on, but..it's a little weird, right?"

"Didn't even know there was a weather machine," he said, mostly to himself. "Did I? Might have forgotten."
