Devil's Nest | Sunday Evening

It had been a remarkably quiet week which Silver was very thankful for. He never really had a thirst for adventure (which was made being a pirate very inconvenient) so weeks like this were just fine with him.

He was spending his shift quietly drinking rum and looking up traditional New Year's Eve celebrations on his phone. Apparently that was another holiday people had ran with and made into a whole big thing with lights and parties that he didn't understand.

He was there.

"Are you looking at anything good?" Rey greeted him, smiling as she took her usual seat.

"I'm just learning about the ridiculous things people do for New Year's in this century," he said, smiling at her. "Does everything involve a party and fireworks?"

"A party, yes. Fireworks, no. And this is the last big thing until summer unless you're really into Easter."

Which was honestly the holiday that confused Rey the most. That one was nonsensical.

"I am not," he said, placing Rey's usual soda in front of her. "So there will be a party here then?"

"Thank you," she said. "There's a party at Caritas that I was planning on going to, if you'd like to go with me."

"I would love to," he said with a smile. "I believe I read something about kissing at midnight?"

"That is apparently the tradition, and we should absolutely take advantage of it," Rey smiled.

"Well if you think we should," Silver teased. "I believe I can make that happen."

"I look forward to it," Rey said. "I should also warn you that it's apparently fancy dress?"

Just gonna sneak that part in...

"Like how fancy?" It actually kind of helped that the way he normally dressed would actually be considered fancyish these days.

"Suits and dresses, I think?" Rey said with a shrug. "I guess whatever you'd wear to an important party, which I've never been to, so I don't really know."

"Are you going to wear a dress?" He didn't think he had seen her in one outside of the fluffy pink monstrosity.

She'd only worn a dress once otherwise, and it was while she'd been a romcom character.

"Maybe. I'm going shopping with Annie, so we'll see what I say yes to," she said. "Nothing pink, nothing fluffy."

"Well we'll see what I can do to look nice," Silver said. "My wardrobe is kind of lacking."

Look he was still used to thinking that five outfits was a lot, he really did desperately need to expand his clothing options. He just had to get in touch with his inner Jack Rackham.

"Do you want to come along?" she offered. "I'm sure Annie won't mind."

"It might be for the best if I do," Silver said. "I feel like I need all the help I can get."

"You'll look great in anything, though," Rey told him. And realistically she'd be trying to get him out of whatever it was after midnight.

Silver smiled. "You're such a flirt."

"I'm honest," she countered. Those things just happened to dovetail a lot with him.

"Well you pulled off the dress you wore on Halloween so I'm sure you are going to look good no matter what you wear," Silver said. "And that's me being honest too."

Where Eric might be.
