The Perk; Thursday Afternoon [01/07].
Since his class was tomorrow, Ignis was back on the island after returning to Insomnia to attend to his usual duties, and while he was still not completely on board with this arrangement, he was at least open to giving it a try. As such, he had decided to take the offer of the extra room with Seivarden; it would certainly be more convenient and cost-effective than relying on the hotel while he was here, and his boarder seemed a decent enough person.
There was, of course, the fact that she did not seem to possess a coffee maker, which was something of the highest order to be taken care of almost immediately.
First, though, for now, Ignis was going to enjoy the coffee at the local cafe, which he felt was far superior in quality than what passed for an excuse for coffee at the bus terminal, though was a little lacking to what he might get back home, settle in comfortably at a table, and get started on finalizing his lesson plans and cirriculum for the class. Just because he was not entirely pleased with his teaching arrangements here, that did not mean that he shouldn't put forth the best effort possible and ensure that it was the best class on culinary basics he could offer.
[[ open perk is open! potential sp, though, because ugh ]]

Cait burst through the door, crown askew, with a flourish of his red cape.
"I hae returned!"
For the record: he hadn't been gone in the first place.

Ignis looked up from his lesson plans, lightly nudged his glasses back up his nose, and then glanced around at the utter lack of response that this declaration seemed to garner, which meant that this was something that happened quite often or it was merely a case of the baristas utterly not caring. But it felt a little odd that there should be no response entirely, so he felt it wouldn't exactly hurt if he were to supply one and make up for the deficet. Perhaps this was one of the students, even, maybe one of his own, so engaging in polite conversation wasn't the worst idea...
"Congratulations," he offered the talking stuffed cat, with a small internal sigh that perhaps last weekend had spoiled him into almost forgetting what this place was like, "on your successful homecoming. I trust it was an eventful voyage?"

"Weel, noo, it was a truly harrowin' time! Thaur waur stairs an' walls an' th' chipmunks ur truly vicioos an' th' squirrels an' porgs be nae help at aw! An' 'en, och, th' horrur! There's th' snaw!"
Cait got a coffee, which was really half coffee and half cream, no sugar, from the barista who hadn't even taken his order. It didn't really matter what his order would be anyway so they no longer asked.
Just gave him something and charged him for it. Sometimes he even paid!
"Thenk ye kindly, lassie! Ah kent ye missed me!" Cait meandered over to the poor fool who'd talked to him. "An' fa ur ye?"
no subject
"Quite well," he said, "thank you. I was just enjoying the peace and quiet," was, perhaps, being the operative word, "and attending to some work. I don't suppose you're, ah...one of the students here?"

He helped himself to a seat at the table, sitting back in it so that his legs couldn't reach the end of it, and studied the man over the cup of coffee that was very nearly as large as his torso.
"Weel, noo, we're aw students in th' gam ay life, arenae we? Ah woods say aam a student 'en! ur ye? Ur ur ye a sucker roped intae teachin'? Aam Cait Sith, by th' way."
And if Ignis knew anything of the origins of that name he'd have a better idea of what he was dealing with.

"Ignis Scientia," he offered, not at all surprised by the cat helping himself to the table, "and I suppose you're right, we are all learning something new every day."
Such as important lessons about ignoring talking stuffed cats. Ignis had another sip.
"And 'roped intae' is a surprisingly accurate description. Not in a literal sense; thank goodness, no ropes were actually involved, but it would seem I have friends who think employment at a boarding school is what constitutes as a 'vacation.'"
Although, to be fair, they weren't really that wrong.

"Wi' friends loch 'at, fa needs enemies!" he crowed, delighted. "Ah, noo, yoo're an unlucky cheil, arenae ye? "
There was darkness in his future. Cait couldn't see the specifics (he never could) but he didn't need to in order to notice--darkness.

Would it do any good to mention the darkness?

"The class is called Culinary Fundamentals," he offered. "I intend to inspire if not a complete love for cooking in my students, then, at the very least, a basic competency..."
May they fare better than some...
no subject
He was not.
…
But godspeed, Ignis. Godspeed.

It was, after all, a very silly encounter with a talking stuffed cat...
"I see," he said, since that seemed...safe, and then felt compelled to observe, "But that is a rather interesting accent you've got there, Cait. Where is it that you're from?"
Yes, yes, multidimensional nexus, he was likely to not have heard of it, but one does wonder...
