Maeve was antisocial enough to at least miss how widespread this weekend was until she actually left her room today. And then she looked at the specials board.

Chicken nuggets
Chocolate milkshakes

"I'm not watching any unsupervised children without hazard pay," Maeve announced. Just to make sure that was clear.

A tiny little girl with long hair came into the diner like she owned the place and walked right up to the counter.

Which she couldn't see over. Details.

"Do you have kulfi pops?" she asked in a British accent.

"No, because we have no culture here," Maeve said, and heard someone scoff behind her. "We could probably do a milkshake that tastes kind of like it?"

"That would be acceptable," Tahani decided.

[complexfemale]

"Kulfi pop milkshake," Maeve called back, and then added, "Google it!" before anyone could question it.

"So what's your name?"

"Tahani al-Jamil," Tahani said. "It means Congratulations, Beautiful."

"Your parents really did that, huh," Maeve said.

[sexy_giraffe]

"Did what?" Tahani asked.

[complexfemale]

"Set you up for life." Tahani could probably interpret that a couple ways.

Tahani would get the other way when she was bigger. "Yes, they have," wee Tahani said, preening.

One of the cooks got her attention, and Maeve went to get the milshake, setting it down in front of Tahani with a straw.

"It's probably not the same, but they actually do good work here," she told her.

"Thank you," Tahani said. "You may put it on my father's tab."

That was a phrase that had clearly gotten a lot of work in her short life.

"I'll... make note of that."

By which Maeve meant, Congratulations, Beautiful, you now had a tab at Luke's.

"Be sure to add on a generous tip for yourself," Tahani said like the tiny little princess she was aspiring to be.

And echoing her mother.
