"Gooooooooooood eveeeeeeeeeeening!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

It had been a little weird waking up at Dad's and Miss Verity's place that morning but, like, given that Miss Verity had also been a child and she had a weekend full of memories of Dad being, like, the best dad ever (not that she had much else to compare it too) Nina was… actually doing really great.

And the book Dad had bought her was now one of her greatest treasures but, like, that didn't really impact class or the fact that she was the queen of the castle they were going to be building.

"Everybody grab a hot drink and come with me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" she ordered, grandly, waving with her scepter. Because, indeed, hot drinks were the only things in the community center class room tonight.

Once everyone had a drink, Nina led the procession grandly through town until they came to a spot where she'd set up several tents and a perimeter glowing brightly even in the dark. Right about here.

"Welcome to the future location of our castle!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Nina beamed. "We can, like, adjust our castle plans now and finalize the main design of it before we begin construction next week!!!!!!!!!!!! Inside that tent," she gestured with the scepter, "you'll find both our notes from last week as well as my compilation of them!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Take your time to survey the area outlined in light," which seemed to be coming from absolutely nowhere, "and consider what you'd like to see in a castle at this location!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"Once you're ready, come on inside and work on the design!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

[Wait for the OCD is up, up, and away!]

Nina's a little biased, but she thinks it's a pretty good location, with a lovely view of the preserve!

Duke, having been assured that he really did, in fact, own the big boat in the harbor over the weekend, had managed to actually spend his nights there instead of in a hidey hole somewhere in town like last time. Which meant he was in much better shape today than he was after the last time this happened.

He sipped his drink and paced slowly around the marked off space, looking over the woods and the school.

"Nicely selected, your majesty."

Her Majesty grinned at him.

"I think so," she said, nodding a little. "I mean, like, it's hard to make it suitably dramatic here than if it was perched on the rocks of Selkie Cove, you know????????? But this way it's more central for people to actually use!!!!!!!!!!!!"

And less chance of people falling.

Nina eyed the castle they were competing against. (If only in her mind.)

"It is going to make ours look like the weird little sibling," she sighed. "But at least ours is ours!!!!!!!!!!!"

Finalize the Design!

Nina has taken all the notes and the resulting list is:

- five towers, one on each corner with one in the middle
- a faux-moat
- a secret library
- a normal library
- transparent/glass walls for some of the rooms (throne room?) (not the outer walls)
- staircase that turns into a slide in one of the towers
- possibly a pole to slide down in the same tower
- private council room
- secret passages
- bathrooms / kitchens

What's less settled is where most of this stuff is going to go! Where should we be putting this stuff?

Enola looked at the list and made some initial sketches of the castle. One with a courtyard. Another without.

She knew how some palaces were built thanks to the books she read Ferndale but trying to add some of the... eccentric items on the list were a bit troublesome.

Talk to Queen Nina!

Who is humming to herself as she doodles various designs of the castle. Barracks here and stables here? Or perhaps not…

Yes, she'd seemed more or less fine at breakfast this morning, but Liam knew sometimes these things took a little while to process, so during a quiet moment in today's planning session, he made his way over to Nina.

"Well," he said, with a wink. "She hasn't thrown me in the dungeons for it yet. Though maybe that's more because we haven't yet built any dungeons, now that I think about it..."

For once Enola left the tea behind in exchange for hot chocolate. The strange powder was very different than what she had been use to drinking but the drink was wonderful nevertheless.

Sidling up beside Nina she gave her a small smile. "I understand there was quite the weekend that I missed. How was your experience?"

"It's too bad you missed it," she said earnestly. "But, like, it was a lot of fun??????????? Very different from how my actual childhood had gone!!!!!!!!!! I got rather spoiled!!!!!!!!"

"Nothing wrong with being spoiled," Enola agreed. "I never realized exactly how spoiled I was until I left home and saw how others lived. I'm glad it was a pleasant weekend for you. Poor Wayne seemed very out of sorts this morning."

Though now Nina was a little sorry she'd missed grumpy Wayne.
