The Devil's Nest, Friday Night

Lucifer wasn't in a particularly anything kind of mood tonight. That much would be obvious, as he bounced from piano classics to pop songs with little regard for anything bar what he felt like playing in the moment.

Still, it was a decidedly less depressing set than last Tuesday, and he was even getting up and away from that piano several times for a drink or two.

Tiny had sighed, and put up a sign declaring it MARGARITA NIGHT near the entrance.

Lucifer might not even scoff at requests tonight.

At the bar, or at the piano.

Where Eric dwells.

Fox apparently had mandates to keep this show as heteronormative as possible despite having two canonically bisexual main characters, which means I'm forever amazed we got this 'Lucifer fake-marries Tom Welling's character' storyline.

Octavia's particular margarita need was watching Tiny make a few of them.

And, okay. She had an actual desire to drink tonight, too. Don't ask, just - give her a margarita. Maybe several.

Octavia caught him on one of his bar breaks, lifting her glass a little in greeting.

"I actually understand the lyrics tonight."

"Yes, I've left the French behind for now," Lucifer agreed, and stepped in a bit closer.

Just toasting didn't seem appropriate, greeting-wise.

Now, Octavia was generally a little particular about public displays of affection. But she was about one glass of margarita in already.

And this had been a good week.

She reached up for a quick kiss.

Lucifer kissed her back, about as quickly, though his hand lingered on her arm for a moment before he pulled it away.

"Enjoying Tiny's cocktail offerings?"

"They're alright," Octavia rasped, something faintly joking in her tone. Probably had something to do with the sip that followed, leaving the glass dangerously close to empty.

Lucifer laughed softly. "You're in a good mood," he teased.

Octavia shrugged.

"Maybe."

She was pretty sure that if she ever actually admitted to that, it would immediately crash and burn.

"Mhm," Lucifer said, and turned to Tiny. "I'll have one of what she's having."

"And I'll have another one of what she's having."

Well, her glass was empty -- now, and she set it down on the bar.

Yes, Lucifer looked very amused by now.

(And certainly steadier than Tuesday.)

"I can't say I'm surprised you're enjoying the citrus."

Octavia snorted softly. "Saying I'm predictable?"

In this respect, she absolutely was.

"In limited areas, I assure you," Lucifer said, grinning. "I believe we call them 'having preferences'."

Another small huff. "I have a preference for citrus, yes."

"I noticed," Lucifer said, waggling his eyebrows with amusement. "How was your day?"

"Ordinary."

She'd lost most of her day to researching some mainland stuff on her phone, but that wasn't anything she was willing to share yet.

"It's been a quiet week."

"We're allowed one of those every now and again," Lucifer said.

Even if he had spent his own week in a state of... whatever... before breaking into Duke's boat last night, so. There was that.

Yeah, Octavia had a lot of questions about his mental state this week.

But he seemed... a little more solid, a little more stable, right now.

"I'm sure Fandom already has something up its sleeve for us next week," she said, her expression going just a little wry.

Monday might have been the first time some of the seriousness of the current... arrangement had finally managed to penetrate his rather thick skull, though if asked, Lucifer wouldn't have been able to put his finger on what, exactly, had thrown him off.

"Mm," he said. "Deadly invasions? New body parts? Everyone wakes up convinced they're a roadie for Bruce Springsteen?"

"A what for who?"
