The Devil's Nest, Friday Night

Lucifer wasn't in a particularly anything kind of mood tonight. That much would be obvious, as he bounced from piano classics to pop songs with little regard for anything bar what he felt like playing in the moment.

Still, it was a decidedly less depressing set than last Tuesday, and he was even getting up and away from that piano several times for a drink or two.

Tiny had sighed, and put up a sign declaring it MARGARITA NIGHT near the entrance.

Octavia's particular margarita need was watching Tiny make a few of them.

And, okay. She had an actual desire to drink tonight, too. Don't ask, just - give her a margarita. Maybe several.

"Margaritas any good here?" Travis asked. He was a relatively friendly guy, and since he was apparently the only firefighter around, he'd have to find a social group elsewhere around here.

"Each one better than the last," Octavia drawled, with a glance over, as well as a tiny lift of her glass.

She'd had a couple. It was probably the main reason he was getting a reply that was even that much expressive, since Octavia and randome strangers were... not always the smoothest mix.

Travis chuckled, undeterred by the aridity of her response. "I'm Travis," he offered. "And yes, I'm new."

Octavia's eyes narrowed a little, but it was more quizzical than anything else.

"Are you the one that showed up this week?"

Yes, word travelled fast.

"I am," Travis confirmed. "Kind of feel like the new kid in school. You all really don't get visitors much, huh."

"Not really," Octavia confirmed, "no."

She was probably supposed to offer more to goo with that, but she took a sip from her glass, instead.

After a long day of cleaning (and despair), Travis was definitely looking forward to checking out the town's other bar.

As promised, there was live piano music. And beer. Travis flicked Tiny a broad grin when he set the bottle down, and turned to check out the lay of the land.

... Why were there plants shoved in front of the dart board?

Octavia caught him on one of his bar breaks, lifting her glass a little in greeting.

"I actually understand the lyrics tonight."

"Yes, I've left the French behind for now," Lucifer agreed, and stepped in a bit closer.

Just toasting didn't seem appropriate, greeting-wise.

Now, Octavia was generally a little particular about public displays of affection. But she was about one glass of margarita in already.

And this had been a good week.

She reached up for a quick kiss.

Lucifer kissed her back, about as quickly, though his hand lingered on her arm for a moment before he pulled it away.

"Enjoying Tiny's cocktail offerings?"

"They're alright," Octavia rasped, something faintly joking in her tone. Probably had something to do with the sip that followed, leaving the glass dangerously close to empty.

Travis was thoroughly drunk, thanks to his rather frustrating conversation with Octavia, by the time he made his way over to the piano.

"Play more Adele," he requested. Well, 'requested'. "Or Lizzo. Or Gloria Gaynor!"

"I do not play 'I Will Survive'," Lucifer said pointedly, but then he cast a look over and realized the man was amusingly drunk. "But Adele, I can do."

His fingers settled over the keys.

"Yaaas!" Travis sipped his latest margarita and bobbed his head almost in time.

He was totally going to belt the chorus. Vic was going to be so sad to miss this.

"I love drunks, they're so easy to please," Lucifer sighed, and played his way up to the chorus with verve.

Drunk, and in need of an escape. And since he assumed that Lucifer was a campy queer performer--just one, rather, and not also the literal Devil--Travis felt perfectly save camping up his own enjoyment.

He had definitely thought about his own drag name. Especially last night. Faya Something. Something Faya? It would definitely in some way evoke things being on fire.

Well, far be it from Lucifer not to roll with the camp, though with less overt enthusiasm than he might have shown in other company.

Then again, this drunken company could hardly tell the difference.

So there may have been a flourish or two. Or three, before he approached the end of the song.

Fox apparently had mandates to keep this show as heteronormative as possible despite having two canonically bisexual main characters, which means I'm forever amazed we got this 'Lucifer fake-marries Tom Welling's character' storyline.
