So……..

Like. Construction when she was already really tired and close to eyeing the caffeine was probably a bad idea, right? Right?

Too bad, because that was what she was doing today!

Besides, like, physical activity would be good for her after most of a week spent exercising her brain and her magic. Something physical would be, like, nothing at all…

She was still considering her life choices here.

"Gooooooooood eveeeeeeeeeeeeniiiiiiiiiiing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" she chirped since, like, no matter how tired she was, she was going to be happy. "Look at how well the walls are coming along!!!!!!!!!!! It's starting to really look like a castle!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

It wasn't, yet, but Nina was nothing if not willing to enthusiastically exaggerate for her class.

"Today is, like, more of the same---------sorry, but walls take a good while to get up, even with our cheating--------but there's hot drinks and pastries in the tent and remember to follow the yellow lines!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

And she… she was going to have a muffin and a hot chocolate and then get a wall up.

Mostly because she was too stubborn to, like, take it easy.

It's not really one but, like, feel free to get a drink and ask questions, look at the blueprints… try to remember the spells...

The walls are coming along nicely though, like, being walls there's still an awful lot of them to go...

And you'd better be geared up while you work! Nina has spare gear if anyone needs it!

It turns out that physical activity is helpful in staying awake!

Guess who was getting a whole heck of a lot of frowny side-eye directed their way, Nina? Go on, guess.

Who dared to frown at the queen?! Rude!

Okay, yeah, Nina probably deserved it but she was doing her best to ignooore it, la la la.

She definitely deserved it.

Conveniently, the section Liam was going to go work on was adjacent to the one Nina had headed for. The frowning would continue!

Ohmygosh, Dad.

It was for a good cause.

And she wasn't the one who'd been gone all weekend! She'd been right where everyone had left her!

She was still going to ignore him, as she stacked blocks methodically, eyeing the blueprint carefully to make sure she was within the yellow lines.

Liam just sighed.

And then, because he wasn't dumb enough to open a conversation with "You look tired", went with: "I would've brought you back a souvenir, but Resistance bases don't have much in the way of gift shops."

There were a few pictures of BB-8, though. Not nearly as many as Annie had taken, but a few.

Nina perked up because, like, yeah, okay.

She'd been expecting a scolding. Which wasn't fair since--she'd just kept on doing her thing, like both he and Summer had known she was going to do!

"I'm just, like, glad you're back safe," she admitted, smiling and absolutely honest. Nina had never expected gifts.

Not a scolding. Maybe a gentle expression of concern.

Also Liam liked to spoil the people he cared about, so... gifts would definitely be a thing, at least when he was someplace with a market.

“We were in and out in plenty of time to avoid being discovered,” Liam told her. “The first day definitely had a sense of urgency to it, but no danger.”

That... that still sounded like a scolding to her.

"That's excellent," she said, beaming. "Did you have fun?????????"

It came from a place of love, though!

“I don’t know if I’d want to go back to doing it full time,” he admitted. “But it was- good, yeah.” A searching look. “And how was your weekend?”

"Pancakes was an excellent supervisor," Nina said, frowning as one of her lines turned red and she had to fiddle with the block to get it back in the yellow. "I'm kind of in love with Pancakes a lot????????? Don't tell Foomy or Miss Dozy!!!!!!!"

“My lips are sealed,” Liam promised, doing the dorky zipping-lips-closed miming thing. “Did Pancakes remind you about mealtimes?”

Pancakes probably reminded Nina quite forcefully about kitty mealtimes. But did Nina take the opportunity to feed herself then as well was the real question.

"I would never let someone go hungry," she said, a bit defensively. "I ate."

Nina's frown flickered over to him.

"I'm used to taking care of myself. By myself."

“I know that,” Liam said. “But I also know you can get pretty- focused- sometimes. I just worry.”

Nina eyed him for a long moment.

"I'm tired," she allowed. "But other than a good supper and a long night's sleep, like, I'm fine???????"

"Okay," Liam relented. And then: "So what would you like for supper?"

COOKING WAS HIS LOVE LANGUAGE, NINA. LET HIM HAVE THIS.

Well, it saved her from asking Summer if she was going to make more pancakes.

Not the cat kind.

"Pasta????????" she said hopefully, leaving it vague because, yeah, she'd noticed the back-stepping on the meat thing and that was cool. Though...

"With a cheese sauce????????"

He’d been doing so well with that. And then had to screw it up by moving too fast.

“Pasta with cheese sauce it is,” Liam said with a nod. “Perfect cold-weather food, too.”

"We could swing by and pick up garlic bread on the way back," she suggested, because if you were having pasta with cheese sauce, garlic bread was basically a necessity.

“Pasta without garlic bread would be tragic,” Liam said seriously, agreeing with the narrative there.

"It really is!!!!!!!!" she said happily. "Now I can't wait for class to be over!!!!!!!!!!!"
