Sushi Station; Wednesday Evening [02/17].
So, this was something that was long overdue, but Troy and Alexis were officially finally going on an official date. Officially. And Alexis had chosen Sushi Station, which could be cool, even if Troy hadn't really had a lot of sushi before, and so long as he never really caught on to the fact that a lot of it was just raw fish and seaweed and rice, it should be just fine.
He was feeling kind of nervous about it, honestly, and he wasn't sure if that was just because he was kind of out of practice with dating or just because Alexis really was a legit top-tier hottie that girls back in Riverside couldn't even get close to reaching.
So then they got to their seat and Troy was looking over the options and realizing that he wasn't sure what most of this stuff was, so this was going to be an adventure, but that was fine, he had a good trick for this sort of thing, because it wasn't exactly a rare occasion when he encountered somethihng he was unfamiliar with but didn't want to make it known that he had no clue.
"So," he ventured, "what's your favorite here?"
[[ for the date, please! Or, well, you can totally use it for your own Sushi Station needs as well, if you want. I'm not your boss. ]]

The whole sushi thing was pretty new for Troy, so with that, he was more thinking of things like this whole going out on dates thing, but he was being, you know, subtle. For once.

"If they let you have beer at Caritas," he reasoned, "then they pretty much have to let you have sake at Sushi Station, right?"
Because that was totally how it worked.
no subject
Alexis was actually evidence of why it should not be.
no subject
He really, really was not. Although, maybe, if he could convinced Alexis of that right now, then perhaps he wasn't nearly as bad as you'd think?
no subject
"You know, I would love to see that," she admitted.

But since he was in for it now, Troy really had no choice but to clear his throat a little bit, square his shoulders, and try to put on his best mature face as he lifted a hand to call the waiter over. "Excuse me, sir? The lady and I have decided that we'd like to start our meal out with some of the finest sake you have available, if you could be so kind."
Since it was a Wednesday after Valentine's Day and it wasn't like there was anything else for the waiter to do at the moment that deal with...this, he sighed and gave the couple at the table a glance over, one that only barely resulted in a roll of his eyes. "Certainly, sir," he said. "May I see some ID?"
He knew Alexis had mentioned a fake one, but he didn't have a fake one. He should probably get one if he was going to be going on more dates, and just as he was about to cook up an excuse about why he didn't have it on him, he realized something. He was technically from the past! According to his ID, he was old enough to drink! And so, with a triumphant grin on his face and thanking the Lord for time travel, he shifted enough to whip out his wallet, unvelcro it open, and slide out his driver's licence, which proudly had his birthday as 1989.
Of course, there was one detail Troy hadn't thought about.
"Sir," the waiter said, having dealt with this before, because he did work in a multiversal hub, thank you, and he handed the ID back, "this expired more than a decade ago."
Crap! But Troy laughed, a bit awkwardly, though he was going for smooth, as he slid the licence back. "Oh, man," he shook his head, chuckling at his own silly mishap with an indulgent grin toward Alexis, "can you believe that? I must have left my non-expired ID in my other wallet! Luckily, what this wallet does have in it...is...maybe..."
With a quirked, knowing brow, almost a second away from a wink, Troy subtly slipped a five dollar bill out of his wallet to pass over to the waiter.
At which point, the waiter almost just felt a little bad for the kid. "I'll see what we can do," he said, pocketing the five and going to go have an all too familiar discussion with his manager and really wishing he had just taken the position at the mainland location...

And once the waiter left she was giving Troy a wide-eyed smile. "Nice job, very impressive."
She was also not paying attention to the denomination if the bill.
no subject
Not that that was really forefront in Troy's mind right now with that reaction, his shoulders finding a little more room to square, but this time with pride, and he tried to keep the smile on his face smooth and cocky instead of just pleased and proud.
"No big thing," he said coolly. "Easy peasy."

He shrugged a little. "Never really have to, actually," he admitted. "I was kind of a big deal back home, everything just sort of...came naturally, I guess."
But he was definitely not at Riverside High anymore...

True, she figured it'd be more like the NFL and she'd make news for "cursing" the team whenever they lost.
no subject
"Yeah?" he grinned. "You know...I just might happen to know a football player who'd think it would be pretty cool to be dating you..."
If that didn't land, he figured he could just throw in someone else's name like he wasn't totally just talking about himself there.
no subject
Of course it was, look at her.
no subject
"Sexy and smart," he said, with a very complimentary tone and look. "Who wouldn't?"
no subject
They were both too hot for that, in her opinion.
no subject
But speaking of waiting, it was just about then that the waiter made a reappearance to ask if they were ready to make their order yet.
He was generally hoping they'd have forgotten about the sake by now.
no subject
"Oh, perfect!" she said, actually clapping her hands together. And while she knew they didn't have the really expensive, good stuff here, she just instinctively honed in on the most expensive stuff they had.
And then she turned to Troy and said brightly, "Your turn!"
no subject
But for some reason, he was thinking it might be a good idea if he went a little...light, especially considering that the prices were some of the few things on the menu he understood.
"And I'll have...that," he said, because he was so not going to try and pronounce it and wind up butchering the name, and he didn't even know what most of it was anyway, "and maybe...that? Or that. We'll have that."
And if the waiter didn't know what he meant by that, well, then, they'll all have a fun adventure out of figuring it all out, wouldn't they?
no subject
She paused.
"Sometimes I have to send it back and try again."
no subject
"I'll have to try that when we go to Japan next week," he mused.
Which would, interestingly enough, involve...more sushi! Probably! So if he thought what he would up with tonight was weird, oh boy, was he in for a treat.
no subject
Had Alexis learned that the hard way? Of course.
no subject
And then start going through that bag and regretting some things.
So now the look Troy was giving Alexis was speculative and considering, as if seeing her for the wealth of knowledge she was in addition to being a complete and total hottie.
"So you seem pretty well traveled," he noted. "You ever been to where we're going next week before?"
no subject

"Why can't you go back to Thailand?"
no subject
Alexis was a totally normal girl.
no subject
"First of all," he stated, "that's badass. Second, how did you get in there in the first place?"
