Faye was so bad at her job, you guys. Just so bad.

A good example of how bad she was: she had never opened at least half of the cabinets and closets around here, because she'd never had a compelling reason (doing her job? inventory? cleaning? no.)

Today, though, she was trying to find some kind of broom or something so she could sweep up the crumbs from a cookie she'd brought in with her (again, only sort of related to work), and when she opened a closet near the back, she was not at all prepared for the torrent of...rubber duckies.

Just, like, a goddamn flood of rubber duckies. And now Faye was buried under rubber duckies.

She'd be spending her shift shoving them all back into the closet, and eventually would make a sign for the door that said RUBBER DUCKIE CLOSET, DO NOT OPEN, but first she was going to just lay here and yell in anguish for a moment. It seemed appropriate.

[idk I'm kind of having A Week and needed something dumb. Open!]

Sabine figured she could finish the mural in the meditation room by her shift on Thursday, so she was here today to see what she could do.

She did have to stop, though, and helpfully say, "You dropped something."

"Probably a Fandom thing. My bet is they weren't there yesterday," Sabine said, way too casual.

"Maybe. Or there'll be even more next week because there's room in there," Sabine pointed out.

She might be messing with her, but she might not be wrong?

"I'm kind of curious about that now," Sabine decided.

She wasnt about to explain jinxing, and she wouldn't be opening anything herself. Just in case.

"That just ends in toys for the kid, you know."

Which would be adorable.
seriesofbaddecisions: (okay so)

[personal profile] seriesofbaddecisions 2021-03-23 06:21 pm (UTC)(link)
"I'm coming by next week to watch this," Sabine said, so fast.
seriesofbaddecisions: (was that an order or an opinion)

"Do you like getting a paycheck?" Sabine asked wryly.
seriesofbaddecisions: (listen up)

[personal profile] seriesofbaddecisions 2021-03-23 07:12 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yep. Had to liven up the room no one ever uses somehow," Sabine explained.
seriesofbaddecisions: (optimistic)

[personal profile] seriesofbaddecisions 2021-03-23 07:34 pm (UTC)(link)
"Maybe. I never really got the point of the whole meditation thing." She'd tried! She'd read up on it!
seriesofbaddecisions: (quietly listening)

"I'd probably just get bored and start drawing," Sabine said with a shrug. "That's just not how I relax."
seriesofbaddecisions: (for your information)

"I would never tell someone not to do that," Sabine said encouragingly. "Though this is my turf."

The whole island was really her turf till graduation.
