The Perk | Late Thursday Morning

Silver had already received a few odd messages this morning, and took it as a sign that he needed caffeine if he was going to deal with this nonsense today. He was a very simple man when it came to coffee, which was why it was very odd when the barista sat down a latte of her own making, an ode to Peeps. Whatever the hell those were.

"It's pink."

But it was also free. He gave the barista a look that promised violence if she accidentally poisoned him and took a sip. It took him a few seconds to actually process what was even going on with this drink.

"This is an abomination." He really needed her to know that before she tried to foist the Peep latte on someone else.

Rey was having a day so far, and she was surprised when she passed the Perk after training and saw Silver inside. And now she had a Question about that.

"Hi," she said, going over to greet him. "Did you not get my text?"

Silver pulled out his phone and looked down at it. Ignore how he had pink latte in his beard after trying that horrible drink.

"Uh, not unless you were asking me about pervasive Jello or sexy space visits." Not to mention that message from Jaskier which he didn't even know how to respond to.

"Who's asking you about sexy space visits?"

Jello made sense in a way. She knew Summer.

"You know, I'm not really sure." He had a grand total of two phone numbers actually in his phone and Summer's was not one of them. "I'm going to assume it's a wrong number."

"I do seem to be getting a lot of those today."

And it was at that moment that she began to worry about the text she'd sent him.

"What were you texting me about anyway?" he asked.

[thatwaslucky]

"...To see if you were busy later?" Rey said, biting her lip a little.

That seemed innocent enough to him. Then he caught the look on her face and realized it probably wasn't all that innocent, which made him smile. "Was it one of those dirty texts?"

"It wasn't dirty." Imagine Rey trying to sext. Imagine it. "But I'm a little concerned I accidentally propositioned someone."

A couple someones, actually.

"Maybe they won't know it was from you?" he said. "I mean, I didn't recognize my weird texts. I did get an odd voicemail from Jaskier though."

"What did he say?" Rey asked.

[long_memory]

"Uh, well, I believe he offered to blow me within a terrible euphemism," Silver admitted. "But I'm sure he didn't mean to actually send it to me."

He was mostly sure.

"Oh," she said, and said helpfully, "He probably would have been more subtle about it."

"I would hope so. I'm not quite that easy," he joked. "Now I'm wondering who he actually was calling."

Anybody with a pulse was a contender, let's be real.

"You could always call and ask," Rey teased.

[long_memory]

"It would probably go to the wrong person," he pointed out. "Though it would be a fun question to ask a stranger."

"I wonder how many of these messages are just people having fun."

Because Rey would never encourage messing with someone. But her player liked chaos.

"I hope the majority of them are," Silver said. "But I bet you could ruin some relationships that way."

[thatwaslucky]

"Imagine if someone took me up on my misdirected text," she said.

[long_memory]

"I would be very jealous," he teased.

[thatwaslucky]

"If anyone else tried to take me up on that I'd just hit them," Rey told him.

“I would like to see that, actually,” he said.

[thatwaslucky]

"Because of possessiveness or just because you want to see me hit people?" Rey teased.

[long_memory]

"Can't it be both?" he replied.

[thatwaslucky]

"It can be both," Rey told him. "But I still hope it doesn't come to that."

She didn't want someone to show up to her apartment ready for bathtime. It'd be so awkward.

He sighed. "Fine, ruin my fun. For the record, I am not busy later."

"So later I can make it up to you for ruining your fun?" Rey smiled.

[long_memory]

"I would definitely be interested in that," he said. "By the way, if you get coffee here, do not let that barista give you anything she created."

[thatwaslucky]

"That sounds like a story," she said. "Is that why you're pink?"

[long_memory]

"I am?" Silver went to wipe his mouth. "Yes--it was something called Peeps? Disgusting."

[thatwaslucky]

"...The marshmallow things?" Rey said, looking appropriately horrified.

[long_memory]

"That's what I drank?" he asked. "It was disgusting."

[thatwaslucky]

"It's very sweet. And I can't understand why anyone would put it in coffee," she admitted, questioning that barista's judgment just so, so much.

"I'm never trusting her again," he said. "Or anyone else. Black coffee, that's it."

[thatwaslucky]

"You're right to never trust her," Rey agreed. "But not all coffeee are... that."

She would eat anything that didn't make her mouth hurt, though. So.

"I didn't really like that pumpkin whatever thing either," he said.

[thatwaslucky]

"That I don't understand," she admitted.

[long_memory]

"Well that means there's more for you, right?" he said.

[thatwaslucky]

She made a vague "Hmm" noise and teased, "I think I finally found a fault."

He smiled. "If that's the only one you end up finding I'll be very impressed."
