Covent Garden Flowers; Tuesday [04/06].

One hardly needed to be familiar with the works of Georgia O'Keeffe to be aware of the fact that flowers, in general, could bear a strong resemblance to certain parts of the human anatomy. Quite a lot of things, in fact, could easily take on that form in the human mind, because humans were fond of patterns and familiar shapes and pareidolia was a common phenomenon even without the aid of certain influencing particles in the air that were doing their best to steer one's mind in a very specific direction.

Astrid understood this; the very nature of the aesthetic design of flowers could be very inherently sexual. Artists and poets had been exploiting the similarities for centuries.

And here she was. Surrounded by all of nature's suggestive little patterns and repeat images, and her own brain's natural ability to perceive these patterns, amped up as if on pervert steroids.

Since she knew she couldn't avoid it, she figured she might as well try to embrace it enough to put it into some productive work and putting these images down on postcards and in sketchbooks with watercolor and graphite. In that respect, it would be a very productive day for her, but even she, who knew the source material she was using for these pieces, could see why it was going to be a hard sell that these painting and drawings were strictly of a floral nature.

Covent Garden is open!
