Okay, well, kids probably shouldn't be at the bar, but Silver felt bad about leaving Jamie with Rey since she wasn't her responsibility. He sat her at the end of the bar with a soda (kids could have that, right?) and his cell phone, knowing from experience that would keep her occupied for hours on end.

Then he hit the rum. If this really was his child, she had surely seen him drink before.

He was there, as was Tiny.

Hopefully he didn't mind a visit from his other temporary kid, who showed up suspiciously sans mother.

"Hi, Dad," she said, carefully climbing up on a stool.

Silver was never not going to be thrown by someone calling him 'Dad'. "Hello."

He looked around, frowning when he saw that Rey hadn't come in behind her. "Where's your mother?"

"She's right behind me. I walk faster," Cerra explained.

This was totally not true, and in five minutes Rey was going to be blowing up his phone.

Silver smiled. "She has much longer legs than you, so I very much doubt that."

Cerra looked scandalized. "She'll be here any minute!" she said, and looked at the door expectantly.

And then said, "Maybe she got distracted."

"Oh, yes, your mother is definitely the type to get distracted an let a child walk alone into a bar." Did a child that young understand sarcasm? Silver was about to find out.

"She has important stuff to do sometimes!" Cerra tried, patiently.

Which was about when Rey started sending some frantic text messages, yes.

"There's something wrong with this," Jamie said, waving the buzzing phone in the air.

Silver came over and took the phone from Jamie's hand. "Oh look, Cerra, it's your mother, absolutely losing her mind."

"It was a misunderstanding," Cerra said, and looked very cute. "Can I have a soda?"

That would throw him off, right?

"Let me tell Rey where you are and then yes," Silver said, throwing off a quick text. "Even though I shouldn't indulge you."

"You're the best," Cerra said sweetly.

"I try," Silver said as he poured a soda. "You're apologizing to your mother, though."

"I can do that," Cerra said with a sigh, and made sure to say "Thank you," as he poured.

See how cute and nice she was when she wasn't actively trying to give a parent a heart attack?
