The Devil's Nest, Tuesday Night

"If you have any stories about your own offspring to share," Lucifer informed Tiny on his way in, "Don't."

And with that, he settled behind the piano to play away some of his remaining restless energy on some classic and modern instrumentals. Occasionally he refilled his glass from the bottle of whiskey sitting on the grand piano. At least it kept him distracted.

Tiny watched him for a bit, then, when no barked orders for specials were incoming, quietly snuck Sex on the Beach onto the specials board. Just because.

It's definitely getting a bit Vivaldi in here later into the night.

Behind the piano, or at the bar, wherever he is, he's drinking.

(And with all the drama happening he hadn't even figured out what week it was yet.)

Jessica ordered two doubles of her usual drink of bottom shelf liquor and then had Tiny pour some of the top shelf into a glass. She took it over to the piano when Lucifer had finished a set and placed the glass of good booze in front of him.

"That's for someone calling you an uncle," she replied. "And that'll be the last I speak of that happening."

"Thank you," Lucifer said fervently, taking the glass, "You are a goddess among mortal women."

"You're welcome. Don't say I never get you anything," she joked as she chugged her first drink. "Last week is done, the visitors from last weekend are gone. Now we can get back to whatever they call normal here."

Lucifer took a sip of his drink. "If only," he muttered.

"Don't start that shit," Jessica warned. "Because if alternate universe grandkids show up I will tear this fucking place down."

"Oh, no, that's not what I'm talking about," Lucifer said. "Just personal drama. I may just have to drink with you all night."

Jessica gave Lucifer a wary look. "You want to talk about it or just drink?"

"Octavia's being a recluse at the worst possible time and now she and Duke are fighting," Lucifer said, taking another big sip. "It's a bit awkward."

"Well. Sometimes people need their space," Jessica said with a small shrug. "But still, sucks for you to be in the middle of their stuff."

"Yes, well, choosing not to come to Baltimore with us while Duke desperately needed her to be there and she knew exactly why was perhaps not the best decision she's ever made," Lucifer muttered.

"This is why I prefer one night stands to relationships," Jessica muttered with a sigh. "Is this something that... I don't know. Booze and flowers can fix?"

Octavia probably wasn't into flowers but maybe Duke was into them.

Yes, flowers and booze were for Duke, fruit was for Octavia. She got it half right.

"No, they just need to have a conversation without someone stalking off in the middle of it," Lucifer muttered. "And I can hardly lock them in a room together."

"Well, technically we could," Jessica pointed out. "I'm not above grabbing someone and shoving them in a room and not letting people out."

Well it didn't work the first time but technically that was Hogarth's fault.

"They aren't powered in some stupid way, are they?"

"Yes and no," Lucifer said, "But also Octavia has severe jail trauma, so if I ever want to see her again, that option is out the window."

"Ah. So to fix one relationship you'd get the fuzzy end of the lollipop," Jessica said with a nod. "We could always parent trap them. Come up with a ludicrous scenario where they both have to be at the same place and time where they have to confront their-"

"-feelings and bullshit."

She paused for a second.

"Can you pretend to have some sort of weird disease only the devil can have? Force them to get some ridiculous cure? Oh. Wait. You can't lie."

"No," Lucifer agreed. "I did lure my parents, or at least, my Mum and who I thought was my Father, into a bar once, but that was mostly just to watch them implode all over each other again. So... not necessarily something I'd like to reproduce."

"Well. I'm out of bullshit sitcom tropes that would fix the situation," Jessica replied, honestly. "Best I can offer you right now is another drink and whatever sympathy I can offer."

She signaled Tiny to refill Lucifer's drink and then gave him an awkward pat on the shoulder. Which is Jessica's version of sympathy.

"The booze is better than my sympathy," she said with a shrug.

"It's still appreciated," Lucifer said gravely. "Both the booze and the sympathy."

He took a big sip.

And then cleared his throat. Yes, after the drinking. "So," he said, "Anything interesting happening in your life of late?"

"You met the most interesting thing that happened in my life recently," Jessica said with a smirk. "And we're not talking about that. Also I'm not talking about last week because I don't kiss and tell."

Unless it's on the OOC Meme that Faye just posted.

"Ah, but you did kiss," Lucifer said, brightening.

"Eh. A little more than that," Jessica said trying to shrug it off. "Scratched an itch really."

"Well, can you at least give me some superlatives?" Lucifer said.

He hadn't gotten laid since Friday evening and it had nothing to do with No Sex Week.

"Is the devil living vicariously through me?" Jessica joked. "Look, I hooked up with two guys. One I planned. The other was a spur of the moment thing. They were people I knew, it didn't get weird afterward and there was no emotional bullshit."

"Oh, living the dream, are we?" Lucifer said.

Never mind that he hadn't managed to go through with casual sex since he'd come back from Hell.

"The week didn't go as badly as I thought it would," Jessica relented. "And at least the guys weren't like the sleezebags I'd hook up with back in New York. Not sure I'd call it the dream but I didn't like shit afterwards."

Jessica clearly has a low bar for such experiences.
