Both last week and the weekend were things that happened and were now mercifully over and done with.

And Danny could get back to avoiding Bee Lady's calls.

"I dealt with her last time, this one's on you guys," Danny said, not letting Ralph guilt him,into listening to the complaints again.

If Steve was having a slightly different problem this week than last, guess what, he still wasn't going to talk to Danny about it!

But his push-up game was ridiculous right now. Just. Ridiculous.

"Hey, Danny," he said. "Brought you a fruit salad."

Which was not at all like donuts.

"What's in it?" Danny asked, perking up.

You could see Steve battling not to say "fruit."

"Berries and mango, mostly," Steve said. "No pineapple, no honeydew."

Because honeydew was a useless fruit.

Honeydew was filler and everyone knew it.

"You ate all the pineapple out of it, didn't you?" Danny asked with a teasing little drawl.

"Yep," Steve said with a grin. "You're welcome."

[hatesparadise]

"I didn't think you," Danny shot back. Except he did in grinning as he accepted the fruit.

"But you were going to," Steve told him.

[hatesparadise]

"Thank you, Steven," Danny said with a gracious wave of his hand. "Grace gone you into some eating healthy kick for her old man?"

"Nah, I was just cutting up some fruit--" a lot of fruit. So much fruit. Needed something other than push-ups to do today, "--and thought I should share."

Was he pulling a Danny here?

"Thanks. That was very kind of you." Was that helping? Was it?

"You're welcome," Steve said, sitting down in his chair with his green smoothie of general health and also grass.

[hatesparadise]

"Nice, quiet week," Danny said. Even if he had been interrupted in the shower this morning by Steve's weird water saving stuff.

"Mmm," Steve agreed. "No noisy neighbors or oversharing calls from the Bee Lady."

Danny paused mid-bite for a look of horror. "She didn't."

"She did," Steve sighed. "I have a very attractive voice, apparently."

[hatesparadise]

"Oh, now I don't mind pawning her off on the other guys anymore."

[grenadesandohana]

Steve snorted. "Thank you?" he said. "I think?"

"There are just some things that I don't need to know about from our frequent callers," Danny explained.

[grenadesandohana]

"I was a much happier guy before I learned it," Steve agreed.

[hatesparadise]

"I'll buy you a beer tonight," Danny offered. "Will that help?"

"I might need two," Steve wheedled.

[hatesparadise]

"Two, huh." He knew you, Steven. Oh, he knew you.

"And nachos."

[hatesparadise]

"You're paying half on the nachos because you always take the best bites," Danny replied, spearing another hunk of mango.

"You snooze, you lose on guacamole," Steve said. "Everyone knows that."
