The Park, Friday afternoon

The weather today wasn't perfect ~~but at least there wasn't SNOW~~ but it was certainly nice enough to be outside and sometimes being outside was easier than being inside. Inside led to too much time alone with his thoughts and Stark had had enough of that for the day.

So he'd gone out and gotten food (not entirely made of sugar) and then stopped at the Perk for something to drink (almost entirely made of sugar) before heading to the park.

It was usually easier not to be stuck in his own head when he was outdoors. At least for a little while. There were birds to watch and flowers ~~not covered in SNOW~~ and sometimes it was good to just sit on a bench and appreciate things like that.

Since Prompto was ~~louder lately than half my roster who actually LIVED here~~ on the island to help with Ignis's class, he figured he'd better take the chance before anything weird happened to maybe get some sweet shots of the park and then birds in the pond and stuff while he could!

Sparing at least a nod and a small gesture of his hand in greeting to Stark in a friendly fashion when he passed by, offering a, "Hey, man. Nice day, huh?"

It, apparently, could be a lot worse!

~~Some players were personally attacked by snow this morning~~

"It is," Stark agreed, raising his coffee cup in return. "It's... calm."

"Which....around here," Prompto said with faint chuckle, lifting the camera again, just in time to catch a duck taking flight...nice! "Enjoy it while you can, right?"

Unless that was supposed to have been a 'hey, guy, it WAS calm' sort of comment, in which case....whoops?

Stark was almost never that passive-aggressive, Prompto.

"Exactly," Stark said with a small nod. "Enjoy the calm while it lasts." Or after things had been less calm for a bit. Either or both.

"Were you looking for the ducks? Or taking pictures of everything?"

Prompto didn't know that! And he was filled with constant self-doubt about pretty much everything, so it seemed a possibility, but it was nice that it didn't seem to actually be the case.

"Little of everything," he admitted with a fond sort of smile as his eyes roamed the park for another good shot. "But it does kinda end up being mostly ducks and flamingos."

They were no chocobos, sure, but they were still pretty cute.

Self-doubt was a very understandable feeling!

"They are entertaining to watch. But I don't take pictures." The only photos on Stark's phone were ones from this past weekend! "Have you found anything else today?"

"Got some great shots of the Cup Noodle^TM everyone made in my friend's class today," said Prompto, now looking down at the screen in the camera as he reviewed some of them, "puppies over at the shelter--so cute! There's this hilarious sign," it was not that funny, "at the fire station, a good shot of the port, and now the ducks..."

He held out the camera toward Stark.

"Wanna have a look?"

And almost as if the two thoughts were just running into each other in his head, he added, "It's too bad I can't really get shots for the dorm roof anymore, though. that place has the best views."

"I never spent much time on the roof," Stark said. "Or any roofs, really. But yes, I would like to look. Thank you."

He was in it for the puppies, really, but also curious about the fire station sign.

Most of them were puppies. Some of them were suggestive of puppies, but that was because they were taken from the bottom of a most excellent puppy pile.

It had been a good day.

"Just click here," Prompto instructed, pointing out a few buttons in the interface,"like this," and then demonstrating, "to move through the pictures."

Then handed it over, with maybe a very watchful eye, because while Prompto was apparently trusting enough to just hand the camera over, he was at least smart enough to realize, once he did, that that was a pretty trusting move.

"You used to go to school here, too?" he then asked, going off the roof comment.

Stark didn't even know there were opportunities to join puppy piles!

"I did," Stark confirmed, setting down his drink so he could carefully go through the pictures. "It was a long time ago."

Handwavey Puppy Piles at the animal shelter were, like, half the reason Prompto came back as much as he did!

"Same here," said Prompto. "Only....not so long ago. Like, just last year."

Which still felt like a while!

Puppy piles were certainly a compelling reason to visit the island.

"I came back last year," Stark said. "Again. In the summer." It had been almost a full year, hadn't it? Maybe he should do something to mark the occasion. "And stayed. I didn't know we had this many puppies on the island."

"Yeah!" It was impossible for Prompto to talk about puppies and not light up instantly. "At Furnado! The animal shelter! I used to work there! Awww, man, it was the best! Puppies all day, every day!"

Except that he only worked one day a week. Details, schmetails.

Working only one day a week was the traditional Fandom way.

"I don't think I've ever been there. Maybe I should."

Maybe spending some time covered in puppies would be good for Stark.

"You really should," Prompto encouraged with a soft kind of sincerity. "They love it when people visit. And they have a lot of other great animals there, too, though I'm always a little worried about the state of the fish tanks now that Sidon isn't cleaning them all the time, but the vet there does a great job."

An endless supply of puppies was an excellent example of Fandom weirdness.

"I'll have to visit," Stark said. "And see for myself."

He wouldn't think of it but a pet would probably be very good for him. Maybe something would follow him home. Something besides the raccoons.

"They are very good boyos," Prompto assured him with proud confidence. "You will not be disappointed."

Unless it turned out he had a secret dog allergy or something, but Prompto would argue that it would still be totally worth it.

"I think it would be hard to be disappointed in puppies. Especially very good ones."

Of course, all puppies were very good.

Stark smiled, then held the camera back out. "Thank you."

"Hey, no problem." Prompto grinned as he took the.camera back, adjusting it a little.to get back into the camera mode, to be good and ready for any other good shots. "I love showing off my.work, so, you know. Thanks for checking them out!"
