The Perk, Sunday Afternoon

This week continued on its merry path not being a disaster, so Lucifer finally chanced heading out for another ridiculous order at the Perk. It had been a while since he'd had one of those chocolatey extreme shakes, and the grin on his face when the barista presented him with the massive (doughnut-topped) creation was almost as big as the shake itself.

Next week, he'd take Octavia and Duke out for a vacation and it would be perfect. He was spending his time with his extreme shake making multiple phone calls just to make absolutely sure it would be.

"Yes, we do want the divider in the bedroom gone-- no, we won't need space for nine other guests... how many vegan restaurants nearby would you recommend? On a scale of disgusting to downright surprising...?"

Travis had gotten to fight an actual fire this week. He was in nearly as good a mood as Lucifer.

"Wow!" He marveled at Lucifer's shake. "What is that?"

"An extreme shake," Lucifer said brightly. "I discovered them last year and they are excellent."

"They definitely look decadent," Travis said. He looked at the barista. "Do you have those in other flavors?"

"Not the chocolate type? I think they do strawberry," Lucifer said, casting a glance in the barista's general direction.

She shrugged. "We just make 'em up as we go along."

"Cookies and cream?" Travis asked the barista hopefully.

She tilted her head, then huddled with her fellow shop workers. Then looked up.

"How do you feel about blue foods?"

Travis twitched his head in a small shake. "No strong feelings."

They nodded and went back into their huddle.

Lucifer made an amused noise.

"One must appreciate their dedication to the job."

A cup of tea and a piece of cake on a Sunday afternoon, after dealing with the butterfly infestation at Covent Garden Flowers, was just what Lucille needed.

So here she was, and glancing around the places after placing her order, she noticed Lucifer.

"Good afternoon," she greeted. "How are you? I realise it has been a while since I stopped by Devil's Nest."

"Yes, and your presence has been missed," Lucifer said, smiling at her. "Perhaps you'd like to grace me with it again?"

"Oh, I would love to," Lucille said, brushing a spider from her sleeve. "I have been practicing a few new pieces that I think might be suitable."

They were her usual style.

Which was fine, as long as it wasn't a mainlander night. "Ah, have you? Any hints as to what I might expect?"

[crimson_sister]

"You know my taste by now, don't you?" Lucille replied, picking up her tea and cake. "It is similar. I have been browsing the sheet music at the music shop."

"I do know your taste, but that hardly fully satisfies my curiosity," Lucifer teased.

Travis nodded to the woman. "You were at Dr. Lecter's the other day, right?"

He had an excellent memory for faces that he'd seen at or around fires.

"I was," Lucille said. "And you are the fireman. A good thing that we have one on the island now, or poor Dr Lecter might have lost the whole house."

"That'd be why most places generally consider having us around a good thing, yeah," Travis said, a little dryly. "Travis Montgomery. Nice to meet you."

[crimson_sister]

"Lucille Sharpe. A pleasure to meet you too."

She paused, then said:

"May I ask, when you know how to extinguish fires, do you also know how to start them?"

Did Stark need more caffeine after yesterday's ridiculousness at the bakery? No. He'd eaten more of the coffee-infused baked goods this morning. But was that going to stop him? Also no.

"I didn't know they made those," he said, eyeing Lucifer's shake.

"They do if you ask," Lucifer offered merrily. "I recommend asking."

"I didn't know I should have asked," Stark said, glancing over at the barista. "Or I would have."

"You should always ask," the barista said with a solemn nod. "We'll do something just for you. Hold on. Gotta think."

"Just don't let them go for the cookies again," Lucifer advised sagely.

[stykera]

"I like cookies," Stark pointed out.

The barista was looking thoughtful. "Nah, no cookies for this one. But...I think I got it." The gleam in her eye may have been ominous.

"Stark," Travis greeted with a wave. "How's it going?"

[stykera]

"Travis," Stark said with a small nod. "Fine. Things have been quiet. But fine. And you?"

"Good! I got to fight a fire."

He was way too pleased with that. Even for a fire that hadn't hurt anyone.

"That's...good? That you could take care of it." That it had happened was less good, of course. "No one was hurt?"
