Turtle & Canary; Monday [05/03].
Pretty much as soon as everything with graduation was over, Summer had popped out of Fandom for a bit because the week leading up to it definitely required locking down an emergency session with Dr. Wong to work through all of it because, hoo boy, was that one kind of a doozy for her. There had been a lot to unpack there.
(Not to mention needing a new phone).
But with actual advice from a woman who, while maybe not trained specifically in Summer's particular brand of craziness, was deft in managing it smoothly from the moment the Smith clan walked into her office, Summer was back and mostly deciding on whether or not to take that advice and actually work on talking through some of what happened with the people it happened with or if she would just sort of attempt to continue on like nothing had happened if she could.
Guess which one she was leaning toward.
Either way, it was Monday, which meant a lot of work to do at the store, and she was eager to throw herself into it, especially with attempting to plan (there was no ever actual planning involved in stocking this place, it was all based on hope, really) for what supplies might be needed with the incoming summer students and teachers as well as maybe continuing to up their stock on booze because that was definitely where they would always continue to show steady increases in their margins, both at the end and the beginning of a new semester.
And already stocking up for herself because guess whose bar shift lined up with another good Excuse for Drinking Holiday this week!
Today's Squishy Flavors
Chocolate Custard
Raspberry Popover

"You don't mind a visit during work hours, do you?"
no subject
"If I did mind," she pointed out, "then no one would ever even see me."
And to prove just how totally okay with it she was, she gave her inventory clipboard a toss over the counter, where it landed....somewhere. She'd worry about it later....and went over to see him.
Quirking her chin up at the flowers.
"You know," she said, "I think Apu might be allergic to those, but I'm sure he'll still appreciate the thought behind you bringing him some."

"Well he only gets the flowers if he finally cleaned the lines in the Squishy machine," Barry snarked back with an impish grin. "Otherwise they can go to you. Oh, and I got a little something else. This box however is for strictly for you."
Yes. The shiny metal box with the jolly like candy button on the top which would open it.

Her attention was definitely on that shiny metal box, though, with a faint shake of her head.
"And what is it?" she asked, her hand already out to take it and she would be well on her way to answering that question for herself then second she had it.

"But..." There was a pause there, as she just sort of soaked in the moment and appreciated it for what it was and the fact that it was so new and shiny, "this does save me the trouble of going to bother you about doing pretty much all the same upgrades on the other one I picked up. This? Way better."
Which meant he was getting a kiss, yes. Several, probably.
"Thank you."

Especially after last week. Which he was most definitely not going to bring up.
"Got anything going on this week? It's been a while since we binged on a ridiculous and shitty action film series."
no subject
Not yet, anyway.
Because there were arms around her and she was going to just lean into that a little right now.
While maaaybe subtly starting to poke around the shiny new phone a little, too.
What? She could totally multitask!
"Wednesday's Cinco de Mayo," she said, because any Excuse for Drinking Holiday landing on her bar night was required to become on Occasion. "Newbie picnic Saturday. Some prep to do to get the store ready for new students because Shunsui's out until then, but I guess it could be a good thing to set Astrid on, give her something to do....it really has been a while since we just had a good stupid movie night..."

Look. Sometimes you just had to make your own small pleasures. Last week was a rough one.
