Il Pollo, Thursday Evening

It was the day that Steve normally came back to the island for them to teach class, but that wouldn't start back up until next week. Which meant they had to take advantage of a nice, calm evening in order to have date night.

"Think you're ready for paintball?" Tony asked over the top of his menu.

[For the date, but it is a resturant!]

Steve grinned. "Yes, it'll be fun!"

You haven't seen the roster yet, Steve.

Maybe they had a chance at a nice, normal class? Maybe?

"Fingers crossed," he agreed.

"You're going to play, too, right?" Steve checked.

"I'm going to play too." He was gonna get so much paint on him.

It was going to be the best.

Steve's entire face lit up with his smile. "Team building!"

Tony laughed and shook his head. "We should keep that in mind as a final class for it next time."

"They'd love it!"

Maybe not.

Steve took a sip of his not as insanely expensive as France wine and smiled.

Yesss, yesss. He'd gotten Steve into expensive tastes.

"That would certainly be the hope," Tony agreed. "Got to keep them on their toes."

"Well, that's essential around here," Steve said. "We should talk about what to do when the portal closes, huh."

"Yeah," Tony agreed with a sigh. "We probably should. Not like we can do too much to fix it, but..."

Steve reached out and gave Tony's hand a quick squeeze. "I panicked the gnomes so much they kept sending me to different Fandoms to get out of their hair."

"Find any fun versions?" Tony asked, turning his hand up to take hold of Steve's.

"One where the school was run by an Irish Catholic nun?" Steve said. "She had zero time for me."

"Did you get hit by a ruler?" Tony asked with a grin.

[heroic_jawline]

"No, but only because I'm quick," Steve said, grinning back.

Tony laughed as he brushed his thumb along Steve's hand. "Shoulda known."

"She was surprisingly sprightly," Steve said. "How'd it go here?"

"Made it through things." Patriot was still iffy about sniffing bushes lest hands appear.

Steve squeezed his fingers again. "Still sorry I wasn't here."

"You couldn't have known," Tony replied, pulling their joined hands up to kiss the back of Steve's. "I'm glad you didn't need to deal with it, though."

"I'm still going to feel guilty," Steve told him with a tiny smile.

[imafuturist]

"I would too," Tony assured him. "We should come up with a plan to make it easier for the both of us."

Or fifteen dozen plans.

Steve nodded vigorously. "That sounds swell."

"Tomorrow," Tony said. "Not on date night."

Steve's smile turned sweeter at that. "I appreciate it."
