Devil's Nest | Sunday Evening

There were flowers all over the bar today. Not even particularly pretty ones, more like the ones someone bought at a gas station when they forgot it was a holiday. Not that Silver could make that comparison. To him it just looked like a bunch of wilted flowers in the way of valuable drinking space.

He swept an arm against the bar, sending roses and carnations to the floor so he could make room for a bottle of rum and a glass.

He was there. Hope you weren't allergic to pollen.

"What happened here?" Rey asked, eyeing the floor.

"The flowers being on the floor? That was me," he said. "I have no idea why they were here in the first place."

"And the floor was the best place for them?" she teased.

He shrugged. "I was hoping whoever was responsible for them being there in the first place would clean them up later."

"Meaning Tiny will end up doing it," she said. Or she would.

"Probably," Silver agreed with a nod. "Or they might disappear magically."

He was hoping for the last one.

"Possibly." Probably not. "Do you have something against flowers?"

"I'm indifferent to them usually," he said. "But I don't enjoy when they're in my way. And these aren't even particularly nice looking flowers."

"I don't think they're so bad," Rey said, glancing at the floor. "Maybe not so much now..."

"If I had known you liked them I wouldn't have knocked them to the floor," he said lightly.

"Something to keep in mind for next time," Rey laughed. "Can I get a soda?"

"Absolutely," he said, going to do just that. "How was work?"

"Incredibly busy for some reason," she said. "I actually worked a little overtime. Hopefully that's okay with my bosses."

“So you’ve earned this soda then,” he teased, sliding the drink over.

"Thank you, I'm glad you think so," she grinned. "Flowers aside, how was your day?"

“Unremarkable,” he said. “Which is exactly how I like it.”

"Unremarkable never gets boring for you?" Rey asked.

“I’ve had enough adventure to last a lifetime.” Sure, he said that now. “Besides, I’ve got you, you’re not boring in the least.”

"I have dragged you into some craziness," she allowed.

"A little bit of craziness," he agreed with a smile. "Just the right amount."

"You may be jinxing it," she pointed out.

"I might be," he agreed. "You can blame the next thing on me, if you want."

"I never would," Rey told him. "Especially since I'm probably overdue for a trip back there."

"Heard anything interesting going on there lately?" he asked.

"Not much. Settling into bases, rescuing allies when we find them. There are more people there now," she answered. "I go back when called but with Ajan Kloss I probably don't have to wait."

"That's not too bad." Nothing he would have to worry over when she did get called. "I do kind of miss that planet."

"We could always go back," she said. "I have a thing in Annie's universe this weekend and there's someone Master Skywalker wants me to meet in another version of our universes at some point but I'm flexible."

"I'd like that," he said. "Who is Anakin introducing you to?"

"The Queen Mother of 64 planets in his alternate universe granddaughter's universe."

Rey was already intimidated.

"...wow." Silver was already intimidated on her behalf.

"Yeah. They have a standing Jedi Order there, so when he drops his daughter off for training for the summer, he wants me to talk to her and his granddaughter to find out what their training was like," she explained. "I'm told it's going to be a wine night."

"The wine might be helpful," he joked. "It'll make things feel less formal."

"Oh, definitely. But it still means I'm drinking with a queen and an empress," Rey pointed out.

"I am sure you will do great," he said. "You're supposed to be learning about their training, they'll do most of the talking."

"True. I am kind of curious what the conversation will be like without filters."

Jaina might do a lot of yelling.

He laughed. "What, do you think they're going to talk shit about the Jedi Order once they get some wine in them?"

"I think one of them really might," Rey said honestly. "She's very blunt."

"Blunt can be good sometimes," he said. "That's actually kind of exciting."

Nothing Silver loved more than gossip.

"I can report back my findings if I hear anything interesting," Rey said, smiling.
