Steve squelched into the station and tossed a pair of hideous fish socks onto Danny's desk. "Well, that was a thing I did."

Danny just had to crack up at that. Shamelessly laugh at his poor, abused partner.

But he was nice about tossing a towel at Steve. Because Hawaii trained him to keep one at the office.

Steve snagged the towel and used it to dry off his hair. "You can keep the socks."

"Oh, I think I'm good, babe," Danny said, picking one up with the tip of a pen to drop into the garbage can.

"You sure?" Steve asked, grinning. "I think there are still a few socks that looked like meat left."

"You trying to say something there?" Danny asked, disposing of the second sock.

"Not really," Steve said, putting the towel onto the chair before flopping into it.

"Well, I'm very glad to see you feel well enough to compete with teenagers," Danny said dryly. Even though it was the truth.

"This was team building," Steve said. The Troopers should be afraid because Steve was getting ideas. "We had to hold up a container of ice water with our feet and then take off the socks. Harder than it sounds."

"...that sounds like something you'd claim you did in BUD/s."

"Our socks then were camo."

Steve, you liar.

"You know, I woulda guessed little anchor embellishments," Danny replied.

"That's for the dress uniform," Steve said, nodding.

"Ah," Danny replied, shaking his head and laughing quietly. "My mistake. The ones with the little bazookas are for combat, right?"

"Of course," Steve said, snickering. "Tactical socks."

"Its all coming together." He'd find those socks and give them as a gag gift that was also showing how much he actually listened to Steve.

"I'll make you understand the military yet, Danno," Steve said, grinning.

"Was that your goal all along?"

You're the one who went to a military spouse therapist, Daniel, so.

Steve's grin widened. "Maybe."

"I'll start calling it the Coast Guard around other people."

"Or maybe the Air Force."

"I'm pretty sure Chair Force can't run a mile, let alone fire a bazooka," Steve said.

Danny snorted and looked away. "You really get invested in those rivalries, huh?"

Steve laughed. "Maybe a little. The Army-Navy game has been very serious since football was invented."
