Wanda was very proud of herself for only hiding for two days after Wednesday's nonsense. She knew it was an island-wide thing but still, she felt had a lot to be embarrassed about in particular.

Eventually she got over herself, and it happened to be around the same time she got tired of the food in her apartment. She hadn't exactly asked for the giant bear claw she was given by the J, GOB worker but you know what? She'd take it.

Maybe if everyone just ignored it enough, it didn't actually happen? Because it was the best way forward if you asked Din.

But someone needed cookies, so here he was. Being 'social'.

He nodded over at Wanda as he stepped into the shop.

Ah, yes, part of the reason why she hid for two days. Now she was standing there with an enormous bear claw like some sort of sugar addicted weirdo.

"Oh, hi. Water balloon guy."

You know what? He'd take that nickname over so many others.

"Water balloon woman," he replied, echoing that. Because it was better than 'weird, red, space wizard,' right?

"People call me Wanda sometimes too," she shared. "Most of the time, actually."

"Wanda," he corrected as the kid started his careful climb out of the satchel he was riding in. Because motherfucking cookies. Din sighed because apparently people knew his name here and avoiding the question made people act weird. "Din. But most people don't actually call me it back home."

"What do they usually call you then?" she asked. She was trying to not to outwardly squee at the little baby thing but it was kind of hard to hide how cute she thought he was.

"Mando." Because nothing like just clinging to a deeply impersonal name!

Grogu toddled over to the display case to put a small hand against the glass. Because look at all those cookies. Awww yeah. He was gonna eat so much he'd puke.

"Does he eat donuts?" Wanda asked. "'Cause they accidentally gave me the world's biggest bear claw."

It wasn't what she'd feed a toddler, sure, but to be fair to Mando she skipped out on that whole era of parenting so it could have been a thing.

"He usually eats whatever he finds," Din said, going with the tried and true method of parenting that he'd adopted since finding the kid. By letting him figure things out through trial and error. "Had a little trouble the time he ate one of the...frog goblin things."

Gremlin. He ate a gremlin.

"Huh." Yeah, no, definitely not her style of parenting but Din was the one who still had their kid so who was winning here?

"Okay, well, a bear claw can't be that bad then," Wanda said, breaking off a piece of the massive pastry. "Um, what's his name?"

In space, parenting is different. Clearly.

"Grogu," Din said as the kid perked up, ears lifting and immediately glancing over at his 'dad' for using the right name. "Found out after we got here."

"Better late than never?" Wanda tried. She crouched down to offer Grogu a hunk of sugary goodness. "Here, honey."

Which Grogu very gladly accepted, plopping down on the floor to slowly eat the thing.

"Well, that saves me from needing to buy cookies."

"There was no way I could have eaten that whole thing by myself," Wanda said. "Besides, I kind of owe you for remaining calm while I acted like a complete psychopath on Wednesday."

"Forgetting about everything that day is for the best," he replied with a sigh. "Really."

He was avoiding his one employee because she was too nosy about his face. So, that was his life.

"Oh, trust me, I'm doing my best," she assured him. "You seemed to have handled it a little better than me."

All she noticed at the time was his actual face and his cape dramatically billowing in the non-existent wind. Not too bad, in her opinion.

One of which was normal and the other one terrible!

"How long have you been here for?"

"About a month," she replied. "I'm the sole employee of the little magic shop across the street from the coffee place."

Din nodded at that, thinking back to how he probably passed by the place more than once this week. "I apparently run the weapon shop. With a meditation room in it."

He was just as confused about that as anyone else.

"Apparently?" she asked, amused.

"It wasn't my idea." Like so much in his life, he was at the mercy of the plot.

"Well you haven't been forcibly removed so you can't be doing too badly, right?" she said. "I'm going to guess you're more part of the weapons aspect than the meditation aspect of the store."

This guy looked like he had never meditated a day in his life.

Well, maybe if you consider cleaning his weapons meditation?

"It's like you know me," he joked. Because he was so obviously armed at all times. But it was his religion, so it's all good.

Please no one tell him about the NRA, he'd get mad.

"You could have surprised me," Wanda said with a shrug. "The weapons could just be stylish accessories."

Well...

"For a Mandalorian, that's true."

Stylish and functional. For the murder.

"Am I going to seem really dumb if I say I don't know what that is?" she asked. Who knows, maybe that was a big movement or something that happened while she was gone.

Flag Smashers, Mandalorians, they could all be post-Blip gangs.

Flag smashing just sounded like a new dance craze.

"It's been hit or miss on people knowing," he admitted. "It's a warrior creed. I was adopted into it when I was a child."

Also super big on adoption. Suuuuper big on it.

"And he's adopted into it too?" she asked, nodding over at Grogu. She remembered the whole foundling thing from Wednesday even amidst the chaos.

"He's..." Din looked down at the kid where his mouth was just a mess of sugar. It might be hard to tell with the helmet and all, but it was unreasonably adorable to Din. "I'm trying to find his people. He's different."

Those bear claws were messy, it wasn't his fault.

"That's really nice of you. It can't be easy," Wanda said. "I mean the food bills alone, that kid just demolished that pastry."

The sitcom habit of following up something genuine with a bad joke had decided to stick around, apparently.

Din at least huffed out a little laugh at it. But there was no studio audience to really sell the joke. Sorry, Wanda.

"I was in his place once. It's not that hard to do what I can."

Wanda nodded in understanding. "I get that, I was orphaned when I was ten. Still, he's lucky to have you."

Din inclined his head in sympathy at that. "Helps when other people feed him."

"You must have noticed he's pretty adorable," Wanda said, smiling. "It's not a hardship."

"Don't be too shocked if he thinks he can get more out of you." Also, Wanda was now firmly in the camp of 'another potential babysitter' because he collected them.

Apparently she was already on the list for Lexi and Patriot as well so she'd just babysit everybody's kids and pets. What could go wrong?

"Don't be too shocked when I give in to him."

"Don't puke if that happens," Din told the kid where he was in front of the display case again.
