"Are you aware of the many ways in which the Bahamas are better than this place?" Lucifer asked Tiny at the bar. "Sun, sand, sea, and no nonsense."

Tiny eyed him.

"I wouldn't get bored that quickly," Lucifer replied irritably. "I could do at least a year, I reckon. And, well, there are plenty of hobbies I could pick up. Even old ones I've long-since abandoned."

Tiny snorted.

"Whatever," Lucifer said. "I'm going to play some excellent tropical jams."

Jessica did her usual saunter over to the piano after getting three or four refills of her usual rotgut. "I just want to warn you that this week's class will probably be eventful and tasteless."

She mulled that statement over a second or two before adding:

"More tasteless than usual."

Jessica seemed amused and quite pleased with herself about her choice this week. Almost smug in the reaction she was sure the class would have.

"What's your opinion on green alcohol that tastes like black jelly beans?" Jessica asked

"That sounds like something I might have had on an acid trip once," Lucifer said, frowning.

"Well then you should have a lot of fun on Thursday," Jessica replied. "Still trying to think of a good social game we could still play. I'd say truth or dare but we are all adults and maybe that should be left for the kids."

"Fine but you can't always take truth because you always tell the truth anyway," Jessica said with a scoff. "Or is this just a ploy to destroy Caritas so you get more business?"

"Caritas would just teleport everyone into the duck pond," Lucifer pointed out. "...Which would be hilarious, especially if they're scantily clad."

"Well now there has to be plotting involved," Jessica mused. "First a dare to get them to undress and then punch someone."

Jessica would say that Lucifer was a bad influence but let's be fair: Jessica would have done this without his influence.

Duke pressed a hand to his chest and gasped. "Moi? Fail a class? Well, I guess there has to be a first time for everything."

"Hush little baby, don't you cry," Duke crooned as he came over to lean against the piano, bourbon in hand. "Now this is a classic I can get behind."

Lucifer looked up at him, and frankly, he'd be appalled had he been aware of the smile forming on his face the moment he heard Duke sing.

He hadn't, though. So the smile was there.

"You never can go wrong with Gershwin," he said, "And I thought I'd capture a bit of the summer vacation mood while I still have it."

"Nothing quite captures a hot summer night like a bit of lazy blues," Duke said, smiling broadly back. He had no idea if the song qualified as blues or not. It sounded bluesy to him. "Regretting coming back?"
