Duke held up the lobster at eye level, looking it over curiously. The lobster slowly waved its bound claws, its antennae twitching, studying him back.

"So," Greg said, after this went on for several moments. "Are you going to cook it, or what?"

"I don't know," Duke said honestly. "How could can Maryland lobster even be?"

"Just drown it in garlic butter," Ali said, rolling his eyes. "Lobster is lobster is giant sea insect."

"Says the man from a landlocked region not known for its lobster," Duke said. He looked at the lobster again. "Sorry bud, but the man does actually have a point." He was about to put the thing into the pot when he heard a sniff from behind him. He looked over to find Timmy looking at him with giant, puppy dog eyes.

Careful not to step on the lobster on a leash.

He's pretty sure being on a leash is not that much better for the lobster than being in a pot.

"Hi," Lucifer said, as he stepped into the diner not long before closing. "I just wanted to reiterate that your grasp of proper absinthe tradition is flawless."

This was entirely an appreciative booty call and he was absolutely not even trying to hide it.

Duke chuckled. He'd swung back through the diner after "class" mostly to grab something to help soak up the alcohol in his system, so Lucifer had caught him making himself a grilled cheese. He turned, holding his spatula like a scepter, and bowed with a flourish.

"Why thank you, sir."

"I like to make sure people know when they're appreciated," Lucifer said, smirking. "Hopefully I'm not intruding on important diner business."

"Just important 'stave off the hangover' business," Duke said, pressing the spatula to the grilled cheese. "You want one?"

Lucifer tilted his head thoughtfully. "I could use the energy," he said.

For reasons that had absolutely nothing to do with the way he was looking at the curve of Duke's neck right now.

Duke noticed and chuckled low in his throat. "I'll make a few. We can bring them to-go back to the boat."

Or not. There was an empty apartment upstairs, after all.

"That seems like a long walk," Lucifer mused, as he slipped into the kitchen.

Duke snorted. “You think you can manage to make it up some stairs, then? Or are planning to ravage me here on the counter?”

"Please, that wouldn't be up to code," Lucifer said.

He was just here to kiss Duke's cheek, obviously.

How adorably chaste!

“So . . . I should ravage you then.”

"It's your diner," Lucifer said solemnly, and kissed him properly this time.

Duke reached back to set the spatula down and turn off the stove, then wrapped his arms over Lucifer’s shoulders to kiss back properly.

Which was a good choice, as Lucifer pushed him up against the stove almost immediately.

"You," he said, "Are very hot when you're being openly sophisticated."

Duke chuckled again. “I am,” he agreed. “That’s why I’m usually so low brow. Being that hot all the time would be unfair to everyone else.”

"I would consider just not letting you leave the bed again," Lucifer agreed. And kissed Duke again, just to make his point.

... and then yanked Duke off the stove and to the upstairs.

Look, that had been really, really hot and he was not letting Duke's snarking get in the way of communicating as much.

Also me: . . . Oh no, I've humanized the lobster too much. Now I can't kill it!
