JGoB, Sunday morning
Stark had somehow not been in the bakery for a couple of weeks now. When he walked in he was greeted with a cheerful, if slightly sarcastic, "good, you're still not dead!"
"I'm not," he confirmed. "It hasn't been that long."
"Couple weeks, man. You coulda been dead. How would we know?"
"It seems like the sort of thing the radio might mention," Stark pointed out.
"Maybe. I don't really listen. You want one of the death by chocolate cupcakes since you're not dead? Or there's strawberries. It's strawberry season, there's strawberry everything."
The case was indeed full of a variety of red and pink baked goods.
Cookies
Cake
Pinwheel Cake
Cupcakes
Cheesecake
Brownies
Pie
Bars
Stark took a brownie and one of the bars to a table by the door. He might have to come back for more options later. For now he'd try out these two desserts and the strawberry lemonade that was being offered as well.
[Open, of course, and now I've gone and made myself hungry]

One slice of cheesecake wouldn't hurt. It was her birthday week!
Also, she could say hi to Stark while she was there.
"Hi, Stark!" she said, while she was there.
no subject
"Good morning, Summer." Stark offered a smile.
Now he got dessert for breakfast and to see a friend, so the day was starting out well.
no subject
"Want a little company?" she asked.
Although, let's be honest, her butt was practically already in a chair at his table.
no subject
He was almost always willing to have company. Especially if he wasn't locked inside his own apartment.
"How are you?"

"And my weekend has been fine. No complaints so far."
no subject
"I think so," she said. "There's still some wiggle room if I find something new or something else happens, but I think we're in for a really good night."
At least she hoped so.
She didn't know if she could handle it if it wasn't.
"So we'll all meet at Caritas and then see where the night takes us!"
[[ uggh, sorry for dropping off the face of the earth and if it happens to this thread again later, because of course work got swamped once I tagged in, and then it chewed me up and spit me out and I lost allll motivation for anything once I was finished XD ]]

"I'm looking forward to it," Stark said. And he was! He was just a little bit uncertain because they'd be going other places and that made him nervous. But in a group things would be fine!
"Is everyone coming? Or is that another mystery?"
[boo, work. No worries.]

And then she looked at Stark a little archly, her smile moving somewhere toward a bit more conspiratorial. "Feel free to drag anyone else you think might have a good time into it, too," she added, not at all thinking of anyone in particular in this case, nope, not even a liiiiittle. "The more, the merrier, after all. You know, in case you wanted to spread the word..."
no subject
Stark saw that smile, Summer. He'd been seeing so many similar looks lately. The squirrels had been bad enough and then there had been Jessica, not to mention Liam that one night...
"I... suppose there's someone I could ask."
[speaking of work exploding. Oy.]
no subject
But that smirk wasn't going anywhere, and Summer nodded firmly as she dug her fork into her cheesecake again. "Do it," she said, with something very definitive about the bite she took. "Plus One now obligatory. I mean, I guess unless she says no, but come on. Why would she?"
no subject
"I don't know!"
But to be honest Stark didn't know why Faye was doing a lot of things. He wasn't going to complain though. That would be ridiculous.
"But I'll ask."
no subject
Even if now she was definitely getting ready to completely turn on her opinion of Faye thus far if she said no, or completely smother Stark with disappointing looks and head shakes if he thickened out and wound up showing up with, like, Liam or something instead.
no subject
"I don't think it will though. I'll ask and see what happens."
And he wasn't going to ask Liam! He hadn't even seen Liam since the night Faye broke in and maybe he never needed to look Liam in the eye again after that.
no subject
And she'd deserve it, too, because what kind of monster would do that to Stark?
But, since there was nothing left to do there but wait and see, she shifted gears a little with her next bite.
"Anything good planned for the week until then? What's your class doing this week?"
no subject
"No plans yet, besides classes. And the radio, I assume." And Anakin's weekly torments, but Stark was more resigned to that than planning on it. "I think this week there might be just lots of chocolate for the cupcakes. Different types."
Next week would be paintball themed cupcakes!
"Oh. And your birthday, on Saturday. Of course."
no subject
"Chocolate is always good, though," she added. "And I'm really excited about my class this week. I actually found something terrible and from this century! I'm really excited to hear what you guys think. It's breakfast-related!"
no subject
"Summer," Stark said, "that doesn't make me want to come to class tomorrow."
"Wait. Is it some horrible breakfast creation involving chocolate?" Was chocolate going to be ruined forever?
no subject
Stark's first comment was met with a smirk that had all the confidence that Stark was going to show up anyway.
"Chocolate does not factor into it," she assured him, "but..."
Of course there was a but.
"I might need to consider it."
You only did these things to yourself, Stark.
no subject
Stark sighed and shook his head. "I ought to know better than to say anything anymore. It only ends badly. Every time. Please don't add chocolate."
It was too late and he knew that. He still had to try.
no subject
"I promise," she offered, "I will not add chocolate to this recipe."
She just fully intended to find a new second recipe that already had it there.
no subject
"How concerned should I be about this particular recipe? Is it edible?"
They'd all been edible so far. Just some of them were exceptionally unpleasant.
no subject
Probably not the endorsement she thought it was! Her scale on this sort of thing was suuuuuper broken!
"It's just all a bit..."
Oh, how to describe it?
"Much."
Which did say something, if Summer Smith thought you were a bit much.
no subject
"I suppose," Stark said, after a pause to consider what Summer might have meant by that statement, "I'll find out for myself tomorrow, won't I?"
Maybe he'd bring a very large beverage to wash it all down with. He really should have been doing that from the beginning.
no subject
"I guess so," said Summer, smiling contentedly, and then giving a sigh to match. "I'm really glad I got the chance to talk it up to you a little, Stark. I just hope you're not disappointed."
Well, of course he'd be disappointed, but it probably wouldn't have anything to do with Summer's hype.

Horrifying? Appalling? Gross? Terrifying? Unholy? There were so many other words to choose from!
