The bar had certainly looked better, but it looked pretty good considering where it had been for a week. Tiny was already on top of ordering more of what had been pilfered throughout the week and Silver was doing his best going through what was leftover.

Honestly, what was leftover was probably left there for a reason. This stuff looked disgusting.

Both he and Tiny were there.

"How bad is it in here?" Rey asked as she took a seat. The same seat she'd used even when the bar was in the hole.

"It's pretty bad," he said. "The alcohol in here is stuff even I wouldn't drink."

Even the soda he was drinking was off brand and tasted slightly off.

"That is bad," she said teasingly. "I guess when there's nothing else to do in the hole..."

"I don't blame people," he said. "I just hope nobody wants anything that tastes good until the shipment comes in."

"I think you're safe. I think people are still in recovery mode." Which she couldn't blame them for, either.

"Does recovery mode not include drinking?" he asked.

"It might. I figure it definitely includes not leaving home." Unlike them.

"That's a good point," he said with a nod. "If someone else comes in here then they deserve the crap that we have leftover."

"And what crap are you drinking?" Rey asked lightly.

He picked up the can he had been drinking out of. "It's Dr. Thunder."

Which was just a knockoff brand of Dr. Pepper owned by Wal-Mart.

"...You have to be making that up," Rey said, frowning.

"I am not," he said, turning the can to show her.

"Can I try it?" Rey asked, feeling like this was maybe a bad idea as someone who automatically got given Dr. Pepper at bars.

"Sure," he said, sliding the drink over. "It tastes sort of the same but off somehow?"

Pennies. It tasted like Dr. Pepper with pennies in it.

Rey took the drink, tasted it, considered it, and immediately pushed it back towards him.

"That's incorrect."

"It's not that bad." It was that bad.

"I would drink it if I didn't know the real thing," she explained. "But this tastes like maybe if I drank it after licking a power converter first."

Silver laughed. "That's an interesting description. Not wrong, though. Hopefully the stuff Tiny ordered comes in by next Sunday."

"I hope so. It can be one more normal thing settling into place," Rey said. "And if it is, maybe I can make you a drink for once."

He probably did not want that until she learned drink proportions.

"Now would this be something of your own creation or something you'll look up?" he asked.

"That depends. I know screwdrivers now, and something with one more ingredient." They were incredibly vodka heavy. "But that's all I know."

"I'm sure I'll like whatever you make," he assured her. "Once we get non-gross alcohol I want one."

"Perfect. At least I kind of learned something down there," she said.

"Well, it's a good news/bad news kind of night," Eric said. "The bad news is that the liquor is shitty for the next few days. The good news is twofold: Lucifer's piano is completely busted and he sent me a stupidly large check for repairs to the axe range."

And the bar. Mostly for the bar. Eric chose to ignore this.

"I wasn't a fan of the piano anyway," Silver said with a shrug. "Is it really going to cost that much to fix the axe range?"

"Probably not, but I'm not giving the money back," Eric said. "He's paying for the next load of alcohol, too." He gestured around. "But we can do an entire refresh. Do you have any deeply held beliefs about what a bar needs besides fewer pianos?"

Well this bar had far less prostitutes than Silver was used to, but he had been here long enough to know that wasn't a good answer.

"Isn't there usually supposed to be a seedy area where people make bad decisions?" There. That was the nice way of saying it.

Eric laughed. "I know exactly what you mean. We can add that."

?? The place was a bit of a mess but you could probably find an axe to throw.

Where Eric may still be sorting through the mess.
