Luke's Diner, Saturday

[what_the_shock]

It was nice to be back here after a few weird weeks. The coffee was hot and black, the cook was hotly debating the merits of searing with the dishwasher, and the busboy was...apparently the busboy was racing salt and pepper shakers.

Miguel wasn't going to ask, as long as the customers had them when they needed.

Luke's was open!

"Hey Miguel" Dwight called out as he walked in. He had been meaning to stop back by for some time, and that menu rundown was too tempering to ignore.

"Hey, Dwight." Miguel nodded to him. "Not allergic to the sun anymore?"

"Thankfully not"Dwight said as he walked up and took a seat. "Actually went for a run around the island earlier for the first time in far too long. Glad to be getting back to some sort of a routine again. How are things going for you lately?"

[what_the_shock]

"Same as ever when this place isn't going insane." He nodded back toward the machine. "Coffee? Or did you come for food too?"

[alwaysonguard]

"Came with the intent of a cup of coffee, but that run down you got outside is too temping to ignore," he laughed pointing at Miguel. "So how about you give me one of each and a cup of coffee to go with it."

[what_the_shock]

"Heh. That's my 'this is a deli after all' lineup," Miguel said. "Or my 'can't be bothered, the cook is here for a reason' lineup."

"I can make other things, you know!" the cook called back, sounding slightly put out.

"Then you make the board!" Miguel returned. "Next week! And the burger, fries, and other fries now, okay?"

The cook waved at him and turned back to the stove as Miguel went and got a cup of coffee for Dwight and topped off his own. "Cream? Sugar?"

"Naw, Black is fine" Dwight said with a nod as he took the cup. He watched as Miguel refilled his own cup. "How much of that stuff do you drink anyways?" he asked with a chuckle.

"Hm?" Miguel shrugged and looked down at his cup. "Never really kept track. Doesn't do anything for me anymore, but I can pretend. How's your week been?"

"Well, not ended up trapped in a hole, and no random teleporting. So all in all, pretty darn good. The normalcy is kind of a nice change of pace" Dwight said with a grin as he took a drink of the coffee.

[what_the_shock]

"To normalcy while it lasts," Miguel toasted. "Now taking bets on how long that will be."

"Three days!" the busboy yelled.

"Until next weekend," the cook called up.

There was a moment of silence, and Miguel looked at the dishwasher. "Don't look at me," he said, shrugging, "I don't think it's normal now."

"I'd like to say it will last for a good long while, but if I have learned one thing in my short time here, it is that the island has a unique and cruel sense of humor."

Dwight lifted his cup to return the toast and chuckled. "I give it 10 days."

[what_the_shock]

"Three, seven, none, and ten. I'll buy a drink for whoever's closest," Miguel said. "I'm not taking bets on what'll happen, because if you haven't learned that part already, it's a good idea not to give it ideas."

"Yeah.... not even touching that one with a 40ft pole... the island has an easy enough time of generating insanity. Definitely doesn't need any help from us!" Dwight said with a nod.

Miguel nodded definitively. The cook put Dwight's burger and fries up, and Miguel brought them over to him, then set extra napkins out, too. "Enjoy."
