Irene had been in Fandom for over a week now, and while she had certainly had something of a crash course in settling back in -- the fire alarms in the middle of the night had been a delight, truly, not to mention the absolute insanity she'd engaged in on Wednesday -- she still felt a bit like she was getting her bearings.

Some things had been startlingly familiar, and the Perk was one of them. Tuesday afternoon found her slipping out of the shop after spending the morning frustratedly untangling a shipment of whips that had come in all jumbled together, instead opting to try to clear her head with a little bit of fancy coffee.

And gossip, of course. There was nothing so relaxing as catching up on news, and she was still trying to get through six years' worth of celebrity gossip. So Irene found herself a squishy chair in the corner in which to sip her cappuccino and continue down her latest rabbit hole: how Ellen DeGeneres was apparently secretly just awful, and it all had something to do with whether or not she'd attended a birthday party thrown by the actress who had starred in the adaptation of those horrible fake bondage books? Amazing.
