The kid was still acting strangely, standing at the large window into the shop to peer out at the street like he was waiting for someone to show up.

Hopefully just expected ice cream or something.

But Din was keeping an eye on him as he fixed one of his blasters at the counter. It wasn't like there was a huge run on guns here and also he apparently ran the place. Or it ran itself.

One of those two.

Was it a futile, stupid thing to be trying to hide from a dead Jedi Master who'd come to the island specifically to say hi to you?

Yes. Was Anakin doing it anyway?

Also yes.

Which was why he was also looking over his shoulder, but not in the hopeful way Grogu was, as he ducked into the shop. "Oh, it's you."

Be more excited, Anakin.

"Are you hiding from someone?" Honestly, that would not surprise Din at all.

"Dead Jedi Master," Anakin said. "You feel him too?" he asked Grogu.

[thedadalorian]

Grogu nodded solemnly before going back to looking out the window for him.

"What?" Look, someone was out of the loop here!

[sith_happened]

"Let's put it this way," Anakin said. "Grogu doesn't get all that much taller. I know because I've worked with one of his species before."

[thedadalorian]

"Is that why he's been so--" Din wiggled his fingers like that explained the whole space magic thing.

[sith_happened]

"Probably," Anakin agreed.

[thedadalorian]

Din looked at the kid and the kid looked back at him for a moment, ears perked right on up hopefully.

"That's good for him, right?"

And only pain for Anakin.

"Oh, he's going to love it," Anakin sighed. "Master Yoda, too, probably."

"Master Yoda," Din repeated dubiously, but it made Grogu's ears do a tiny, little swivel as he looked around for that force signature with the most minimal of grace of something only half remembered.

Anakin sat down with a heavy sigh. "Very well, Master," he called out. "You've cornered me."

"Is that a Jedi wizard thing?" Din was just soooo helpful here.

[sith_happened]

"Yes," Anakin said with a tiny smile as a green alien in brown robes giggled and came into the shop.

[trolling_i_am]

He was at least a little bit taller than Grogu, though. And he was here instead of pestering not-so-young Skywalker, so count yourselves lucky.

"Young Grogu," he said as the kid toddled over to make sure it wasn't a blue force ghost or anything.

Anakin looked a little awkward as he sat there, reminded sharply of how Yoda and Grogu knew each other and the part he's played shortly after.

Yoda's attention shifted from the child at hand to Anakin for a moment, eyes narrowing like he was looking through him to ascertain if this was once again the Jedi Knight he'd known and not the Sith Lord he'd been.

He dismissed Anakin with a little, "Pah," before looking at an equally awkward Din. "A Mandalorian adopting a Jedi, mmm?"

"I'm just returning him to his people," Din offered like that helped. Also what was even going on here?

There was so much unspoken, but it all clearly held meaning.

"When I find them."

You know. The, like, three still running around in his time.

"And until then, Grogu is being well taken care of," Anakin said.

Not by him, mind you, just...in general.

[trolling_i_am]

Yoda nodded like he was going to accept that answer before reaching over to just absolutely smack the back of Anakin's calf with his cane. "Training, he needs. Much fear within him still."

[sith_happened]

"Ow!" Anakin said, rubbing his leg.

[trolling_i_am]

That earned him another smack. You know. For good measure.

"Understand that fear, you do."

And don't try to deny it. Yoda would both know and hit you again, Skywalker.

[sith_happened]

Anakin pressed his lips together like a scolded child. "I do," he admitted.

Yeah, consider Din very confused here.

"He's going to take the kid?" No, he didn't sound upset about it. He was fine with this. Fine.

[sith_happened]

"Of course not," Anakin said, "but I can teach him while you're here, if he'd like."

[trolling_i_am]

Yoda nodded, stomping his can into the ground like it was settled. "Settled, it is."

There! He even said it out loud. No take backs.

"Show me around, you will. This town you have called home, I will see."

And he'd probably nail Luke in the leg too.

Anakin stood up. "Yes, Master," he said, sounding long-suffering.

So. Normal. "I'll see you both later," he added to Din and Grogu, "and we'll figure out a schedule."

"Thank you?" Din said, still so, so lost here.

[trolling_i_am]

Yoda made an approved noise, pointing at Anakin with his cane. "Polite, this one. Learn from him, you could."

Oh, now he was just messing with Anakin.

"You're hilarious," Anakin said dryly.
