Pruitt had taken his dear sweet time getting to the fire station ~~since the mun had spent most of yesterday in transit~~, so Travis blessedly had no idea that he was being visited by the deceased.

Until he walked into the garage and saw a familiar form frowning at the engine.

". . . Captain?!"

"Montgomery." Captain Pruitt Herrera turned to look at him over his shoulder, arms folded across his chest. "You call this an engine?"

And just like that, Travis was a probie all over again, trying to catch up with the seasoned fire fighters. (And he hadn't even been a probie under Herrera!) "It's -- I know it's small. But the streets around here --"

"Don't make excuses, Montgomery. It's not the size of the engine that matters." He nodded down to the chrome bumper. "You call that clean?!"

If anyone wanted a firefighter today, they'd find him scrubbing down all the trucks, under the watchful, stern eye of Station 19's greatest captain.
