Silver felt a killer hangover coming on, and the only way he knew to stop it was to keep drinking. That might not mean great things when he finally decided to stop drinking, but he was living in the moment. Whatever kept him from thinking, he figured.

Once she'd said goodbye to Poe and BB-8, Rey headed in to see Silver. She'd been worried, but it had been hard to actually do much about it with other people around.

"Back to having a quiet island again," she said, taking her seat.

"Thank god for that," he said. "Sorry I wasn't around much."

Not that he'd have a thrilling conversation with BB-8 but he liked Poe well enough.

"That's all right. You seemed a little..." Preoccupied? "Busy."

"Only briefly." The rest of the time had been devoted to drinking and moping. "I heard you talked to him."

"Only for a couple of minutes," she nodded. "He didn't seem to know what Parents Weekend even was. I was worried about what he was doing here then."

"He was trying to get me to go back," Silver said, draining his glass of rum before going to get Rey a soda. "I said no, obviously."

"I figured you would." It had worried her, but she trusted him. "How did it go?"

This level of drinking was a clue.

"Not great," he said, handing over her drink. "Basically that I'm a coward and he'll never see me again and I'm going to regret it."

"Wow," she said, blinking as she took the drink. "That's... I'm sorry."

Silver shrugged. "It's fine. Nothing I hadn't expected to hear."

"Still must be a lot to actually hear it," Rey said.

"It's fine," he said again. "He's gone and won't be a problem anymore. I'm sorry we had to deal with it in the first place"

"We?" she asked.

"You spoke to him too," Silver said. "I assume he wasn't all that friendly. He usually isn't at first."

"He wasn't bad," Rey admitted. "Though I was vague in telling him who I was."

"It's not any of his business anyway," he said. "And it likely wouldn't have made the conversation any better."

"That's what I was thinking," she said, watching him. "How are you doing?"

She was curious if he'd actually tell her.

"It took me by surprise," he admitted. "I didn't think anybody from there could find me here."

"I don't think I've ever seen you that surprised before," Rey said.

"I'm sure you have," he said lightly. "The inflatable reindeer thing?"

"This is different," Rey said.
