When Lucille arrived at the shop and opened the door, a cloud of moths swept past her. She closed it, watching the insects scatter with the wind, then tried again. This time the moths engulfed her for a moment before they disappeared, perhaps trying to escape the morning light, and Lucille sighed.
She locked the door again, pulled out her notebook, tore out a page and scribbled a message that she stuck to the window.
Not that she objected to them in smaller numbers, but there were limits to what even she could endure.
"Perhaps I am going to need some bats," she said to herself, considering useful predators.
[Coven Garden Flowers is closed today, but you can catch Lucille after she heads back home.]
