Community Center Class: Beyond Cup Noodle; Thursday Evening [10/07].

"As I'm sure most of you are aware," said Ignis, as class got underway for the evening, "next week is, of course, the school trip, and so we will not be meeting next week, as I will be attending. However, in the spirit of the venture itself," and perhaps to unintentionally rub it in the face of the one person in the classroom that wouldn't be attending, "I decided it would be interesting to look into some of the local cuisine of Boston and explore some simple, easy versions of those, in a celebration of Bostonian culture. So, today, we will be tackling simplified, quick version of two popular dishes: Boston baked beans and Boston cream pie."

You didn't expect him to want to let these three anywhere near attempting a chowder, did you?

"Let's man our stations, then," he said, "and we'll begin."

As Ignis leads the class through the recipes, he certainly makes a point of mentioning that these truly are simplied versions, tailored to be efficient for those who might not necessarily have a great deal of time or resources, but, should anyone be interested, he would be happy to share some more traditional and time consuming versions of the dishes, or, better yet, suggest going straight to the source, should you be attending the trip as well.

Ignis is slightly worried about how those beans will turn out, but, surely, they can all manage the pie...

....right?

Goose being near a frying pan was probably tempting fate but he was still going to attempt baked beans and started following the steps.

It didn’t take long at all for the smell of smoke to start.

Goose blinked at the frying pan and noticed there seemed to be a lot if smoke …and flames?

“Oh,”

It had only been a matter of time hadn’t it?

Well at least the beans didn’t go on the ceiling this week?

Luckily, Ignis had been mostly expecting something like this, and so of course, he was quite prepared. With well-honed reflexes that were intended more for a battlefield than a kitchen, he moved in, on the ready, with a lid to smother the fire in one hand, and a vial for an ice spell just in case in the other.

"I assure you, Mr. Gooseman," Ignis said, his voice cool enough to have likely been able to douse the fire all its own, "things will cook at a lower temperature. It takes a little longer, yes, but we've got the whole class period, and it is well worth the wait. But don't just take my word for it, I suggest you give it a try for yourself."

“Uh…sorry,” he said wincing, “I didn’t think I had put it up that high,” Goose had a very different idea of what counted as a high temperature.

Somewhere both Walsh and Doc were facepalming.

"One of a chef's greatest tools," Ignis informed Goose, as he set the hot pan down and lifted the lid to see exactly what the damages had been, "among a well-made pot and a sharp knife, is a sense of awareness, a trait I'm sure you can agree proves useful all across the board."

He gently reached over to turn the heat on Goose's range to a more appropriate level.

"And often, the fires we get ourselves into burn hotter than we expect. Try again on this heat; I'm sure you'll find it much more agreeable."

And if he still managed to catch it on fire, well....Ignis might be mildly impressed along with significantly baffled.

Dwight looked down at the pie in front of him. It was together. It kinda looked like the one Ignis had made.... maybe... if you squinted at little.

Hey Dwight was just glad to have gotten it together, though there was a good bit of cream and frosting other than on the dessert. He did always tend to make a mess when he would bake with Lizzie, though he had always chalked up the mess to being her doing.... maybe he was a bit off with that judgement.... But still- Pie!

The main reason he is looking forward to this trip is to explore the culinary scene of the city, yes.

"Looks like we both will be getting inspired by Boston on the trip," Dwight said with a grin. "Been ages since I've been!" And by ages he meant more like 15 years in his time.... closer to 30 in the current tome- so yeah, gonna be a bit different than he would remember.

"And I never have," Ignis noted, because, well, different planet, and he offered Dwight a small smile. "So now I know who I can turn to, should I need suggestions, even if it's been a while. Still, I find it hard not to be inspired by anywhere with a rich history and an appreciation for local food, especially fresh seafood."

His head tilted thoughtfully. "So you'll be joining us as well?"

"Yeah, I managed to snag a spot on the trip. Amaya asked me to go along as her plus one. Cant remember the last time I took an honest vacation anywhere, and haven't even left the island since getting here. So, I figured a trip sounded like a really good idea."

Today is day 7 of my seven day work streak.

It's almost over.

The end is in siiiiiight. ;_;

Ooof I know the feeling- I am usually pulling nearly 30 days a month at work.

You can do it!

T-minus 5 hours until two glorious days off!

And so far blissfully chill, but famous last words, I'm SURE lol
