It finally happened. Wanda had covered the store up with tacky decorations to the point where a) she had no space left for more and b) she somehow lost her phone amongst the fake spider webs.

She was sure she'd find it eventually, but still. Very inconvenient.

Steve had been planning to go back upstate on Monday but someone not him had turned into a miniature pony during their morning coffee.

And now he was being trailed by that pony as he entered the store, looking slightly harrassed.

"Don't suppose you can turn someone back into a person?" he asked.

"I think I'd have better luck turning someone into an animal," she said, looking down at the pony. "Who is that?"

Steve sighed. "This is Tony. I spent most of yesterday herding him away from the Perk."

[scarlet_chaos]

Wanda couldn't help but grin, which she tried to cover up with her hand. "Oh, I'm sorry. That's...terrible."

"Oh, it's not that terrible," Steve said, laughing. "But it is ridiculous, especially when pony-Tony--" Steve, no, "--refuses to go down the stairs."

"Well all those extra limbs," Wanda pointed out. "It must be intimidating."

"The first couple times, sure," Steve said, "but after the fourth, I think he just likes getting carried around."

[scarlet_chaos]

"I mean, he's probably not the only person who wants to be carried around by Captain America," Wanda joked.

Steve ducked his head as he laughed. "Okay, maybe."

[scarlet_chaos]

"Has this happened before?" Wanda asked.

[heroic_jawline]

"The pony thing? No," Steve said, laughing. "Well, except for the weekend we all turned into talking ponies. I had a shield on my butt."

"That sounds pretty cute," she said. "Oh! Can you do me a favor and call my phone? I lost it."

"Sure," Steve said, smiling and pulling out his phone to pull up her number. "Okay, here goes," he said, pushing the button.

Wanda was a good millennial and therefore had her phone on silent since the early 2010's, but held up a hand for silence as she tried to hear the buzzing.

"Hold on..." Wanda stuck her hand into a nearby cluster of spider webs and soon pulled out her phone. "Yes! Finally."

Meanwhile Steve's rang like a rotary phone for half of his contacts because Tony thought he was hilarious.

"How long has it been gone?" Steve asked.

"Since this morning," she said, slipping the phone into her pocket. Sad fact: Wanda didn't have to bother checking for texts these days. "I was getting kind of bored without it."

"All the news apps?" Steve guessed because he was actually 100 years old. He still did the crossword and called comics "funnies."

"More like Twitter," she said with a laugh. "I downloaded TikTok for a hot second but then decided I was too old for it."

"The dog has an Instagram account, but that's Tony's friend Jan's fault," Steve said. "I should add a pony-Tony picture with no explanation."

"Oh my god, pony-Tony!" Wanda hadn't connected those dots and now looked absolutely thrilled.

Steve knew he liked you for reason, Wanda!

"It's great, isn't it?" he said gleefully.

[scarlet_chaos]

"I love it," Wanda said. "I take it Tony doesn't find it as cute."

[heroic_jawline]

"Definitely not," Steve said, "and he's very unhappy I tried to feed him oatmeal for breakfast instead of coffee."

"I mean, a hyperactive pony sounds like a disaster," Wanda said. "You did the right thing."

"Thank you," Steve said as the pony looked decidedly sulky. For a pony. "That's what I said."
