Covent Garden Flowers, Friday (10/22)

Among this morning's deliveries was, of all things, a box full of tiny but real pumpkins on tiny vines. Yasha was not as sure as she might have been a couple of years ago that this shouldn't be possible, but in any case she wasn't questioning it. And why would she? They were adorable.

Clearly, the thing to do here was to make garlands out of those tiny pumpkins, and then weave them all together with some flowers into autumn-themed flower crowns. Clearly.

By mid-morning she had several already done and hung up on a little display stand at the counter, ready for sale, and was contentedly in the process of making more. As ways to pass a workday went, this one was really nice and soothing.

Lucille had picked a few books from her bookshelf and in the afternoon she stopped by the shop.

"Pumpkin crowns? They are quite pretty. Perhaps someone will by one for the masquerade tonight. Are you going?"

She suspected not, but felt she should at least ask.

"I didn't know what else to do with them," Yasha admitted, then shifted a bit awkwardly. "Is that... a social thing?"

She didn't mean to make it sound like Lucille had asked her if she was going to stick her hand into a meat grinder, it was just... people.

"It is," Lucille said, prepared to drop the subject if Yasha preferred.

"I brought some books."

"I think I would rather just stay in and read," Yasha said, which should about address both subjects. She should probably go, she knew, to get out and interact and all, but she just didn't see any incentive in doing so. "What sort of books do you have today?"

"I brought a few moddable different ones," Lucille said, placing them on the counter. "But for today I was thinking about this one."

She held up an illustrated copy of The Rime of the Ancient Mariner.

"It is about a fateful journey at sea. I thought the theme of travelling might interest you."

Yasha immediately reached for the book and -- carefully -- started paging through it.

"I love it when books are pretty as well as interesting," she said, and chuckled softly. "The last time I went on an adventure with Beau and our... other friends we ended up at sea, so this will be interesting, thank you."

"Would you like to read part of it together?" Lucille asked. "In any case, it is well suited to be read aloud."

"Aloud?" Yasha sounded hesitant, just for a moment. It wasn't as if she would be reading out loud to a whole audience. "Sure. Why not?"

It probably wouldn't involve any ancient leviathans promising power in exchange for fealty, which was just fine with her.
