The Perk - Wednesday Afternoon

It had been an interesting few days back home between dealing with Slade’s Armada and then trying to track down a forgetful memory bird with the stolen Supertrooper Juice formula.

One bonus was that thanks to an emergency budget meeting for BETA as a result of Slade’s attack, Goose now had the necessary funds to finally fix his apartment after he had turned into that alien cat a few weeks ago so he could finally order the replacement furniture and work on the general damage that had been done. Apparently Walsh had convinced the Board of Leaders that the expenditure was necessary and had probably avoided mentioning that the funds were for him … knowing some of the Senators, they’d probably think him not being able to take care of his apartment would be grounds for them to open an investigation.

After his class Goose decided to get a pumpkin spice latte because it had been a while and the only real break he’d had had been when Doc had tried (rather unsuccessfully) to give him and Niko a cooking lesson so he was taking the moment to enjoy the coffee and change of pace from his normal routine.

Jon, meanwhile, was just here for tea. Maybe he'd let the barista talk him into a chai.

He waved politely at Goose, still a bit embarrassed at having given so many chin scritches to the man.

“I uh managed to get the funds to fix the apartment,” he said, a bit awkwardly as he waved back, “it took a bit longer than I thought it would but my commanding officer was able to get approval for them,”

"Oh! Uh, good." Jon frowned. "I'm pretty sure the building's insurance was taking care of at least some of it, though."

“Well in case you do need extra?” Goose offered, “I don’t think they looked to closely when they approved it, so there’s a fair bit there,” he paused, “even though I’m sure part of that might have also been for next time?” Walsh had known Goose long enough to know that the odds of something like this happening again were pretty high when it concerned him.

"Next time." Jon was absolutely not asking that; he wasn't sure he wanted to know.

Goose winced a little, “not just with Fandom, I uh …have a bit of a track record at home and sometimes ….” he wasn’t sure how to explain that if he was involved it tended to a pretty safe chance something was going to explode or catch fire or just be a general mess, “it can get chaotic,” that was a bit of an understatement.

"Ah." Jon nodded. "Well, I suppose I can't throw any stones about that. Let's hope nothing else does happen, and deal with it when it does."
